Aiper Scuba S1 Review

Wow.the most I got was 3:15 but lately it’s not getting to the 3 hour mark. When charging, do you, leave it plugged in all night? I unplug it once the blue light stops blinking. Perhaps leaving it plugged in might result in it getting “topped off?”
Yeah I tend to just leave it on the charger. It’s way out in my shed and I don’t feel like going all the way out there just to unplug it (I’m not lazy, I just prefer to run in economy mode). I do this with all my power tool and yard equipment batteries as well. My unit is brand new as well. Could also be a feature of the new firmware. Who knows.

One thing I've noticed with the Aiper while observing it underwater that I don't like is that it doesn't collect the residual plaster dust sitting on the bottom of the pool.

What it does do is, it sucks it up and just blows it out of the back and redistributes it to sink back to the bottom of the pool. Perhaps a finer mesh filter would solve this problem.

Yep that’s the main feature it’s lacking it, no ultra fine pleated filters. It’s the only reason I will keep my corded dolphin bot in rotation. Sometimes you need that ultra fine filtering ability, that apparently none of these cordless bots at this price point provides. I do however use it most everyday, I never used my corded bot every day. I was going to get the S1 pro for this reason, but the reviews here weren’t that good. Also I had the dolphin already anyway, so it didn’t make any sense for me to spend the extra on it.

When you guys take the Aiper out, are you recharging it immediately when it's still wet? Or letting it air dry? I'd prefer not to make so many trips outside to take it out of the pool, plug it in, put it back in the pool, etc.

I do sometimes miss my old Polaris that just lived in the pool and ran on a timer every day. One of the reasons I love the Betta so much is that it needs virtually zero labor.

Sometimes but usually I remove it let it drain sitting pool side.

In eco mode you can leave it in the pool to run every 48 hrs for a week.

I get it out of the pool at some point during the day, leave it on the charger until the next morning then run it again. Yeah the betta just runs 24/7 until its basket gets full.

Well, I saw there was an firmware update so I decided to install and try it out before returning the Aiper. The current version I have for the Aiper Scuba S1 Pro is V1.0.1. I think the previous version was V1.0.09. I have only run it once on the new firmware and it was after the remnants of the hurricane came by and put leaves, small debris and twigs in our pool. I noticed that it did not get stuck in the normal places as before. It seems to recognize it is in the same spot and moves elsewhere. I also noticed that it stirs up the debris on the floor and gets redistributed (didn't do that before). I'm not sure but it seems the rollers aren't spinning when cleaning the floor. I see them spinning doing the waterline and the walls. Aren't they supposed to spin when cleaning the floor? Finally, the Aiper left some leaves and debris on the floor when the battery died. When I was taking it out of the pool, debris came out the back but not as bad as before. I will use it again today...

So as an experiment today, I ran my M500 with the pleated filters right after a run of the S1. There was some extra fine sand that got picked up but not a lot. Also a lot of that could have blown into the pool while the M500 was running.

Not sure this has been said in this thread already, but leaving any pool robot in the pool is always a bad idea. Your robot WILL fail quicker than if you take it out when the robot is done cleaning. More time in the water means more time the parts are soaking in chemicals and in the sun. This will break down seals, and water will eventually get to your motors, and when that happens the robot is done.

So I ran the Scuba Pro one more time after the update. It seems to have cleaned the pool well but it was not as dirty as last time. Both times it ran in Auto Full Cleaning Mode (water line, walls, and floor). Minimal debris came out of the back as I took it out of the pool. I would have put it to the test more but my return window is closing. When I called Custome Support, they offered to ship me another unit but I said I prefer a full refund. We will be moving soon so I won't be able to test it more. I will wait until next season for Version 2.

Thanks to everyone for the useful info in here!

Just bought one of these on Prime Day. Hoping it will do a good job on my somewhat larger pool...concerned about that, and the slope issue thing...getting stuck in the deep end. I guess we will see how it does...so should I update to the latest firmware right away? New firmware seems to make this robot run better, helps deal with the "getting stuck in the deep end" issue?

Thank you for the PSA, but I am fine running my bot in eco mode esp at this price point. If you can show me just how much shorter the lifespan of the Aiper will be, beyond anecdotal evidence of course, I'd be happy to reconsider.

The fact is these bots don't last very long, period, but at a price point comparable to the Aiper if I get 2/3's of the life span of a Dolphin because i run it in eco mode or heck even 1/2 the life span, I'm still way ahead of the game.

The door on the bottom of the basket gets sand or grit or whatever stuck in the hinge/spring assembly and doesn't close all the way. Probably some environments don't have that issue. Going to send back the 3rd one and get a refund this time.

The question is, what should I replace it with?

I want to link this new thread regarding the Aiper Seagull Pro robot that caused a fire.
This is has been my major concern about charging the Aiper robot - regardless of model. I normally set a 3 hr timer when I am charging it so I unplug it and do not let it overcharge.

All I can say is I updated mine before using it and mine has no issues and works just fine.

The update works on the Scuba S1 just fine. Mine is not the pro. Download App. Put Scuba S1 in pairing mode (While plugged in, hold down the button for 10 seconds). Then go to WiFi on phone and connect to Aipeer_xxxxx - Password is 12345678. Then go to app and navigate to choose Scuba S1 and updates. That’s it - took me probably 3 minutes from App Download and updated it just fine.
I've followed this exactly, multiple times, and I CANNOT get this Scuba S1 to pair with my phone/the app. I also cannot get the QR method to work. No joke I have an electrical engineering degree, write code, have setup many devices like this before...and CANNOT get this to work. Any tips? I don't get it...

Is there a separate App for the S1? I noticed if you try to add via QR, the S1 is not even on the list of devices, only the S1 Pro. Am I using the wrong app? All I keep getting is no devices found...and I am using 2.4 Ghz network.

What QR method? I downloaded the Aiper app from the AppStore then you find the S1 under support, look at the bottom for how to update robot, then follow along. WiFi password is 12345678 IMG_3676.pngIMG_3677.pngIMG_3679.pngIMG_3680.pngIMG_3681.pngIMG_3682.png

Ok it worked via the Support method. Kinda odd that is the only way to get it to connect. What is the point of having the pretty start page of the app with the pool and the + button if you have to go into support to do anything...Thank you was super simple.

Your welcome! The S1 isn’t supposed to use the app, but you need the app to update the firmware apparently.
