so drain the whole 17k gallons of water? The only good advice they gave you was that you have copper in the water. The other stuff is a waste of money and not necessary.
The only way to get rid of copper is to drain the bad water out and replace with good water, then don’t use any more products that contain copper. Don’t use Clorox tablets with “xtra blue” etc.
And you’ll be way ahead of the game if you don’t ever trust a pool store water test and change to do your own testing with either a TF-100 or a Taylor K2006C kit. The pool stores area really bad at testing accurately.
Thank you! You have just made me take a nice breath of relief. I have been using cl tablets and been shocking with 73% cal hyp shock. I keep buying the shock, adding but no levels going up, havent had any algae or cloudy water thankfully. Store results fc 0.19, cc1.62, pH 7.8, Ta 104, ch 338, cya 43It seems they have combined your threads- here’s my original reply
Never fear! Help has arrived
1st: Breathewe got u!
2nd: you need your own proper test kit.
It must include the fas/dpd test (taylor k1515a) & cya turbidity test
You can buy these separately on Amazon or tftestkits.net to add to what you have.

Until then just add 5ppm worth of liquid chlorine to the pool each day to keep things from getting worse. (Which is pretty much a gallon of 10%)
NOTHING ELSE
PoolMath
Pour it slowly in front of a running return and brush the area.
Read up on Pool Care Basics especially the SLAM Process.
The poolrx is a no no because it adds copper to your water- this can cause stains, green hair etc.
How have you been chlorinating the pool?
Also what's the best liquid cl to use and where to find one? Did you say use 1 gal cl? My pool is 17k galIt seems they have combined your threads- here’s my original reply

Use PoolMath to find out how much to add. Enter your pool type, size, etc. Then you can press the FC (free chlorine) tile on the homepage and it will tell you how much liquid chlorine to add. You can double check your amount here. Also what's the best liquid cl to use and where to find one? Did you say use 1 gal cl? My pool is 17k gal
So for now just 10% liquid chlorine? I ordered the kit. Pool Math suggested 126oz of 10% bleach jug size 96oz. Does this make sense? The ‘shock’ is adding calcium. Until you post a complete set of test results from your own test kit, I would suggest not using that product.

(If you can’t use the app, the old website can work.)
I use 10% liquid chlorine (AKA bleach or sodium hypochlorite) from Walmart.com, very cheap. Just make sure it has no additives line colorMax or low splash.
128 oz is 1 gallon, I will just get a gallon container, pool math does not say how often, do I apply this then test cl in couple of hours then keep adding until I get to level 6?Most liquid chlorine comes in one gallon containers. Check that.
Could probably drain just a portion of it to get the levels down and then see if you can get rid of the rest when closing and splash out. If you don’t add any more, you might be able to just write it out and let the levels drop overtime.so drain the whole 17k gallons of water?
