Pentair SWCG IC40

It’s your pool and your struggle! We will be overjoyed to celebrate your success! Just a bunch of overly worrying backseat posters 😊

at the end of the day - you are the one who knows where in your comfort zone you are for passing, don’t let us dictate if you have a strong feeling

No one is trying to imply anything or find fault with what you are doing. It’s just that we’ve seen so many end a SLAM too early and boom, more algae.

In the end, it is your pool and your time and effort, so if you are confidant that your battle is over, go for it!
I understand, I was being humorous. I totally get another day, wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything since it's my first SLAM and I am pretty sore. Also my kids will walk up and count off rhythm so it' resulted in quite a few retests.

I really appreciate the encouragement and assistance throughout this process. Let's all hope for another passed OCLT.

Is it safe to have the kids in the pool today, I kinda let the cat out of the bag as they are hoping to swim today.

It’s safe to swim at slam level and below as long as you can see the bottom for swimmer safety.

Just keep in mind the bather load will consume more FC and you might want to end the day early to make sure you eat up the organics left behind from the swimmers so it doesn’t affect your OCLT (I’ve never heard anyone say this, so maybe I’m wrong, but seems like it would be the case).

From 1125 (100 degrees) to 545 (105 degrees) I went from 16 to 10ppm. If the heat doesn't add to FC loss but UV does at CYA of 40, is that ideal?

@Jimrahbe @JJ_Tex How much are yall losing per day?

I’d bump that CYA up to 70. I have my IC40 running at 40% running 24/7. Up until a few weeks ago I was at 30%.

WH,

My CYA is 60 to 70 ppm and I am running my SWCG at 50%.. I have an IC40 with a 17K pool. SWCG run 24/7..

I have no clue how much FC I am using each day, as it is not something that I even look at.

I just adjust my SWCG so that FC stays at or above my Target FC.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Thanks guys, I am still SLAM timeout and so far the night testing is looking good but when the sun hits it the FC get sucked right down. I brought the ppm back up from 10 to 16 using pool math (123oz of 10% LC) at 545pm and testing at 750pm its at 16.5.

Lets see what tonight has in store for us.

Thanks do you remember what your CYA was before raising it?
Somewhere in 50 range

Each pool is different depending on UV strength, weather, shade/sun, bather load etc

Your loss is not unheard of for a day in sunshine… esp in a southern state like Texas

Right now I am hoping to end my SLAM and hopefully go into cruise control I wanted to get a feel to dial in my SWG when I restore all my settings and bring up my CYA.

So far the pool hasn't been used since the SLAM started but ill continue to test when it ends and then start from there

Looks like I never got out of SLAM, I also found and eyeball that doesn't do anything in my pool. I suspect this was the vacuum line for the robot that I opted out of. I took the eyeball out and stuck my finger in and felt some scaled stuff break lose.

Should i cap this or ask the PB to convert it to another jet now there is water in that line sitting dormant.

Thanks

Well that's the problem with vac lines that aren't used as they become stagnant and cause algae. If you don't plan on using it just cap it off in the pool with These and be done with it and since you don't have a winterizing saga to deal with every year just call it done OR tie it in to the return lines and keep the water moving.

Yes and I tracked that down. I have 4 eyeballs, 2 for return which I have verified pressure. 1 for autofill I can see the water trickle out when it is on. The PB capped the vacuum line at the pool equipment but didn't cap it in the pool, they put an eye on it. This one is centered with the pool thinking was to ensure proper robot reach.

FYI that link appears broken
I’m interested in a vac line solution too

Also it seems that I passed the OCLT, I tested the pool after a family swim at 1030 pm at 12 and this morning it registered at 11.

Going to give it another shot today.
