I just tested it again and my FC jumped up to 20.5, I didn't add any chlorine and my swcg is set to 1 percent output. Does this make any sense?

Scrub everywhere - autofill, light fixtures, ladders, inside of ladders, umbrella posts, vacuum lines, pump basket. Skimmer, weir door etc etc

Algae is very sneaky at hiding

Went from 17 last night to 12 this morning at 7am.

Also tested CC and that is at 0.

Any clues as to what I am fighting?

Testing last night was full dark? And you don’t have any sort of uv/ozone on the system?

You might try assuming your cya is higher than it is if it’s testing uncertainly. Eg 60 vs 50 or 40 vs 30.

Also you’ve checked every possible hiding place especially those which you would never consider? Including rafts, pool toys and covers?

Just thinking out loud…

That is significant loss. What does the water look like?
Water is crystal clear, was clear the entire team.

Full dark I have led lights but those were already off when I tested it. Just a SWCG (disabled) chlorinator (empty), no UV or ozone. This pool is less than 4 weeks old. No ladders, no toys in the pool, I have the nichless lights.

I think I might have a spot of black algae but I scraped on it and it didn't give.

Something does not add up.
There is either interference or error in testing the chemistry.

Thanks, I am doing this while working from home so my test is as follows.

Add 10 drops mix. Add 10 drops mix, then 2 drops mix, when the color starts to change then 1 drop at a time.

I did a thorough brush then tested FC was at 16, came home after 1hr 45 FC is at 18.

Let me know if there is anything I need to change.

Just a couple of tips...

Rinse sample vials with pool water before and after use. With a small sample size, even a bit of fresh tap water can skew results.

Make sure your sample sizes are exactly the same each time.

When using droppers, keep the bottle vertical. Squeeze only enough to allow the drops to just fall off the tip.

Go slow between drops (about 1 second between) and watch closely for color changes.

a speedstir would help the consistency tremendously!

I have been rinsing with tap and letting it air dry, just rinsed my entire test kit with isopropyl alcohol. I have been using a dropper bottle to fill the test cylinder at 10ml each time.
