What did you do to your pool today?

Planning out the cold season... water temp down to 75 (24C). Time to pack it in for the year. Solar heating set to winter mode. Pump down to 4 hrs medium speed, SWCG 50%. Blew off the surrounds, brushed, complete water test. I had raised FC to 20% of CYA a few days ago and it's holding well. Sighhh. 🤷‍♂️

Did the full suite of tests, which I hadn't done in quite some time. Everything is looking good!

And - sigh- I violated one of my biggest rules, the one in my signature about no IoT devices. A SWCG is imminent and, of course, much like the VSP, I can't configure it through the All-Button. I had left my laptop plugged in running the Aqualink Touch RS/Touchlink simulator running, but I discovered a bug - When the Simulator is running, the Aqualink seems to think that the pool has a cover on it, and that the imaginary cover is closed. So it can't run the spillover. It won't automate it according to the schedule and if you try to manually activate it, it throws up an error "Cannot enable spillover, Cover is closed" or something to that effect. You should only expect the best from Jandy.

Anyhow, after searching for months for a wired version of the Touch RS/Touchlink controller, I just gave up and consider it to be unobtainium. I'm convinced Jandy built like 20 of them. So I picked up a used iAqualink 2.0 J-box for $80. Set up a new SSID on the AP closest to the patio (to get around the iAL2.0's mesh network issues), walled it off from the rest of the network, and hooked it up. Works great! Still had to take a shower afterwards to wash off the disgust of putting such trash on my network.

Can I both like and laugh on any one post?

What I'd give for 75 degree water. I am tired of looking at the pool and can't get in. Water temp here is 56F (13C). The air temp isn't much better, today is a cool 53F. A month from now, I will probably be complaining it's too hot. But I'll be swimming.

I installed a new glycerin filled pressure gauge on the filter. I found it broken when I started up the pool yesterday. Thanks to Amazon, I got it overnight.
I remove mine for the winter & bring it inside. It’s lasted multiple seasons/winters now. The og one last one season & 1 winter being left outside.

I only moved into this house in July. The previous owner ran the pool year around. I closed the pool and brought the gauge in. At my previous house, non-glycerin gauge lasted about 2 years. The last one I bought was glycerin filled and was 4 years old when I sold the house.

I don’t think my first one was glycerin filled.
I replaced it with the glycerin filled one from tftestkits which definitely feels much more substantial and I really like it. Someone on here mentioned to remove it for winter for longevity so I am hoping it lasts for a while as I really like it. Well, as much as you could like a pressure gauge I assume 🤣

Exactly. We're acquaintances at best. Now my SWG on the other hand, Ivana IC60 and I, are BFFs. (I named her when they were hard to come by)
Very fitting, She is a nice beige blonde 👱‍♀️& a little on the pricey side 🤣

I created a VLAN on my network specifically for garbage IOT devices, to which Jandy is a member :)

This stuff right here, can kiss my butt... :pth:

I managed to keep the pool clear all winter with minimal effort, first time since moving in that I didn't have to start things off with a ton of bleach! The water has been getting super cloudy with pollen now however so today I backwashed, cleaned all the baskets, threw the robot in. I added a few bottles of chlorine and also added my salt which I'm letting dissolve before trying out the SWG - the water temp is currently 68 so I think it should be good to go if not now soon.

But these little hairy pollen ********. SO IRRITATING! They clog up everything so fast! I get them all out of the pool and they're back a few hours later from the wind - and all going to form a carpet in the skimmer basket. And then there's the caterpillars.

I mentioned taking my cover off today because it is dry & the hubby quickly reminded me how many of those boogers are still on the trees. I’m now rethinking my position…. Got the swg going & running on a minimal schedule may keep it that way a bit longer.

Bought the last 6 jugs of pool essentials at WalMart just in case. They were from Jan 10th and I wasn't thrilled about it, but who knows when they'll have more ? 6 gallons is only 17.4 FC for me and it won't last long. How do you liquid chlorine people do this all summer ?

Maybe it is just the area. I don’t use LC much either now, but I was in Walmart the other day and they had over 100 gallons on the shelf. Most all that I checked was dated mid-Jan mfg. date. Then I went to HD and they had 20 or so cartons of 4 gal packs. So the southern stores are gearing up for pool use in the summer.
