Circupool SWG

Just my 2 cents. when you set it to 50% it runs at 50% power and not wide open for half the time and off. I like that part.
I was told it’s the next gen cell.
But the SJ and RJ have been around forever.

Also the edge doesn’t have an internal fan.

I did read somebody said the controller didn’t hold up well in the sun but I have mine in a separate room in the shade

Love my Edge-40 on my 17k pool. 25% for 10 hours a day does the trick. DIY one year ago. Much higher price than OP, but still a great deal with their $5 upgrade.

The SJ is a basic model with only 25% increments for % generation. That may not provide fine enough % control with a 35K cell on a 5K pool. You will need to use runtime to make finer adjustments to cell chlorine output.

The Edge series is the same. Not an issue if it's in a timer. I just change run hours.

My understanding is the Edge SWG % adjustment is in 12.5% increments.

Is that incorrect?

The SJ series cell is a different design than most others. I had this cell design and replaced it with an RJ series. The SJ series cell must be mounted horizontally and 6" above the highest plumbing point, which limits installation options. The design and positioning of the cell allows for air pockets to form on the top portion of the cell, exposing the plates, particularly when running at lower speeds. Keep this in mind when making your selection.

Can you explain what you mean about your first sentence? I'm confused. Also what does it mean that it doesn't have an internal fan? is that a bad thing?

Most SWG if set at 50% will cycle on and off 50% of the time (10m on, 10m off, etc). The Circupool drops its power 50%, full time. I feel that's much better on the system and should mean lower electrical use.

Not all Circupool SWG reduce power based on percentage set on the controller.

The RJ series are on a 3 hour (180 minute) cycle. If set at 50%, the SWG is ON (full power) for 90 minutes and then OFF for 90 minutes. This cycle repeats until power is removed from the SWG (or there is no flow). If the RJ has power for 4.5 hours, it would be ON for 90 minutes, OFF for 90 minutes and then ON for 90 minutes.

I believe the SJ series may require a higher salt ppm as well.

Remember, the flow switch is a SECONDARY safety device. It is best practice (and safer) to use a timer or similar to turn the SWG on/off based on your pump schedule.
