Official 2022 BBQ, Smoking, Grilling, Baking and Beer thread

I’m burning it in as we speak. It’s huge. Might be too much grill for us. Lol. I got to make MORE chicken today. Lol then tonight I’m going to smoke thick pork chops. T bones. I’m going to reverse sear them. I forcthe sear plates for mine. They are really really nice.
I am going to be doing ribs today. I will post soon. Enjoy

Ok peeps! Getting ready for first cook on the baby recteq. Doing the chicken thigh recipe they recommend to season it. Did the 60 min 400 degree burn. Brined my thighs. Seasoned them. Just airing them out in the fridge a bit. I’ll post back finished pics. Nice little grill for my parents. Only them at the house so they don’t need anything big so I grabbed this one discounted when I bought the 700 for myself.

Edit: awesome! That little bad boy can handle itself. Chicken came out great. Heats up relatively decent and them after I was done eating I jacked it up to 500 to clean the grate. Got up to 500 no problem at all. I really like it.

I unboxed my 700. Yah going to need help. I have no idea how I’m going to stand this thing up after the legs are on even with the help of someone. It’s a beast. Maybe I should have sized down 1. Lol
That's assume......

Ok trying to make up for last years pathetic non existent cooks.

Tonight we are on the big boy. The recteq 700. I think you can put a half of hog in this thing. I never had this big of a grill.

I did the burn in. I did chicken thighs like they recommend on this one too to season it. I am officially sick of chicken thighs. Lol

I got thick ol’ pork chops on there. I brined them for a few hours. I am really liked the amazing ribs “scientific” wet brine. I like how it uses meat weight to set the numbers for the salt. I have used it 3 times now and the food was never salty. I threw on a bbq rub and I’m going to reverse sear them. Im cooking at 225 and then I’m going to jack it all the way up. The little one went over 500 so I’m assuming this one will also. I bought the sear plates but I don’t feel like pulling them out tonight. Im going to give the max setting a try and see how it all plays out. Oh I made apple chutney for on top.

Some pics and I’ll post up final pics after we eat. I’m using my signals vs the probes on the recteq. Figured spent all that money we might as well keep using it.

Last thing. The hopper is huuuuuuuuuge!

Ok forgot to post last night. Ended up in a meat coma. Lol. Awesome dinner. I need a new bbq rub though. I’m getting tired of my Rufus that I use.

Ok peeps what is everyone cooking today!?

@Brentr I know I know you did eggs with *insert meat here*. Lol kidding.
Lots of chicken - thighs, breasts and wings, along with mashed potatoes and corn on the cob. Guacamole and 7 layer dip for starters. The Margaritaville machine will be in high gear, too!

Man the margarita machine rocks! My mother in law bought it for us when it first came out. I laughed cause it was famous name slapped on it. I laughed even more when my wife told me what she paid for it. But then we tried it. I didn’t laugh anymore. Awesome machine. It has been to the beach with us countless time traveled to parties. Still running like the day we got it. Rock solid!

Ours is at least 15 years old and still going strong! I usually only break it out for large groups because it frees up the bartender (me). The shaved ice vs blender ice is always a hit. We used to make Coke icees when the kids were little. Now they prefer the adult beverages.
