Waterfall turned on after a while, water won't come out nicely

S,

Did it work fine for a day or so after you cleaned it, and now it is no longer working?

What color is your water?

Did you add any floc or clarifier to your pool?

What is your filter pressure?

In almost all case, if things work after the filter is cleaned and then so after the flow decreases again, it is algae, even if you can't see it yet.

Thanks,

Jim R.

I did have an algae problem a few weeks ago but I shocked the pool for a week and have gotten the pool back to correct levels. I haven't added floc or clarifier, just the HDX chlorine from home depot. How can I tell filter pressure?

Also, not sure if this would be the cause for the problem but when I run a knife through the slit where the water comes out of, there are areas where it gets stuck, as if something is blocking the flow, could it be that the inside is calcified?

Maybe this is stating the obvious... but have you checked your valves to make sure all the return water is directed to the waterfalls? And your pump is running at full speed?

Also, with mine, they came with a little tool that I can slide around in them to clear any blockages, sometimes I need to do that when I start using them at the beginng of the season. Those blockages usually just split the stream though, not cause them to dribble out like yours. That really looks like a pressure problem more than a blockage.

I'm not sure if my pump is running at full speed, the piece that's attached to the filter is shaded out, i think it needs to be replaced... but it turns out I had not cleaned the pool skimmer basket and the valve basket, 2 of them were pretty full with debris... currently cleaning that to see if it makes a difference...

S,

If you had an algae problem, you probably still have an algae problem... Just because the water is no longer green, does not mean the algae has gone away.

Could it be something else, of course, but the number one reason for your problem is a dirty filter.

One way to prove it, is to clean the filter and then fire your system back up and see what the waterfall looks like. If it works great for a few hours, or a day or so, and then the flow drops off again, you will know the problem is that something is clogging your filter. What else could it be but algae??

I am of course assuming you have the valve to the waterfall open and the pump running at the speed that normally makes your waterfall look great.

BTW.. I'm pretty sure there are vertical partitions inside the waterfall.

Thanks,

Jim R.

ok i think i may have figured out a part of the problem.. i don't know if I hit a valve while cleaning but right now the sheer descent is not returning any water at all, this is the valve that controls it, here is this video of me turning it on and off:

Any idea what's going on? the water seems to be returning regardless of where the valve is switched, and the basket isn't being filled with new water either.

i took the lid off to see why the sheer descent wasn't working. even with the lid on, nothing seems to be happening, should i keep it running? It is making a noise. Also, any idea which way the valves should be turned, this one is for the pump connected to the sheer descent:

I'm also not sure which way these valves that are connected to the main filter should be turned, these two don't turn at all (I tried spraying some WD40):

This one turns but I'm not sure what it does:

The two valve that won't turn are electrically controlled by your automation, and you should not be manually moving them?

The valve that you don't know what it controls is also shut OFF. See the word "OFF" on tab?

Tell me about the O-Ring I see on the ground???

Thanks,

Jim R.

Thanks for your help, I switched both valves onto the on position, the O ring was from the cap for one of the valve basket covers, that's been replaced... i turn on the sheer descent and I still get nothing... a small dribble of water from 1 of the 3 waterfalls but nothing from the other two. I opened the valve basket for the sheer descent, and it is only filled with water at 25%?

S,

Just to make sure, show me a pic of the waterfall valve in the on position..

I did not realize that you have a pump just for the waterfall.. Where does it get its water? Does it have a filter of it own?

Thanks,

Jim R.

I'm not sure where the waterfall gets the water from, I don't know if that helps but when it worked it didn't require for the filter to be on. Here are two pictures:

When I turn on the sheer descent, the valve/filter on the left is the one that makes noise, i don't hear anything from the one on the right regardless of whether I got the filter/descent on or off but i also don't see a valve:

When I turn my filter pump on, this is the one that turns on and makes the most noise... everything seems to be working with the filter:
