Pool under construction

I ordered the smooth broom finish and it doesn’t look like what I remember but I could be wrong
Do you LOVE it ? Thats more important that what you or the PB calls it. But I'm with @AQUA~HOLICS that broom finish, like a sidewalk, has every bristle leave a line and there are a bazillion of them for traction. 'Smooth finish' is like your pic and/or a garage floor, and specifically not good for wet areas. (Coping should be fine though)

I believe your brain was assaulted with too many choices during the process and could only remeber so many details and names.

If you love it, congrats. If not, speak now or forever hold your peace.

Ahh thank you! Do I love it? Nope - BUT, did I pick it? Maybe :) Am I also the most indecisive person on the planet, YES! And I'm down the rabbit hole, overthinking everything! But, I don't remember picking anything with aggragates showing - maybe it was the lighting...Yes far far too many choices! I thought the aggragates were in the rougher material - but I just don't remember :)

The aggragates are a 3rd choice (please don't hurt me :ROFLMAO:) that you had to make. They bling up the otherwise plain looking smooth pieces. They both have a place. Smooth is sleek and industrial and yours is more flashy and unpredictable.

Welp. We *all* 102nd guess every decision. Also, no matter what you did, you will coulda/woulda/shoulda until the end of time. Its human nature. But them coulda/woulda/shoulda-s while on a float with an adult beverage are rather heavenly.

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: Ughh such is life right? But yes you are right once on a floaty with a pretty little cocktail I won’t notice much! Or maybe I will and I will need to be sent to a looney bin!!!

Hi all! Question for you - Gunite is poured but I wanted a larger spa spillway (current is 28", want to cut it wider to increase 6") 18" raised spa 7x7. PB is telling me not to make it bigger as the water will not cascade, only trickle. I have a Pentiar Variable speed pump 3HP, when I turn the pump on, won't it cascade? I'm confused? When we are sitting in the spa, I don't care what trickles over, but when the pump in on I would hope it cascades? Pool is about 18k gallons, spa is just under 2k gallons.

Do you plan to run the Spillover all the time? It will take a much higher pump flow rate to create a Spillover the wider the opening is.
We do NOT recommend running a Spillover all the time. It drives your pH up. You should program the Spillover to run a couple times a day and then turn it on when you wish to enjoy it.

Yes that pump is capable to create a spill over in the spa, is it dedicated to the spa only or is it the circulation pump for the pool and spa? You will be taking away return flow from the pool to maintain a spill over from the spa but can be overcome by increasing the RPM of the variable speed pump.

Thank you, No, I believe we just have the one pump for the pool & spa, increasing the RPM? Ok, thank you!

Hi everyone the pool builder is going to be putting in a travertine I chose on my spillway my spa is raised 18 inches above the pool can you please tell me how far out you would have the overhang of the travertine I want a nice cascading waterfall but I also don’t want adults to walk by it or even taller kids and hit themselves in the side of the head! I attached a picture of my pool and then a picture of a spa for reference with the travertine stone, thanks!

We have travertine scuppers, they extend an inch and a half from the wall and are 3 feet from the waters edge.

Any advice?

Our advice is spillovers should not be run continuously. Spillovers should be run twice a day for 15 to 30 minutes to refresh the spa water.

Running the spillover creates aeration which causes the pool pH to rise more rapidly and requires more acid additions. You will also probably get calcium scale developing behind the water due to evaporation leaving the calcium on the tiles.

A projection of an inch or so is all you need for the stone on the spillover.

Here are a few threads about spa spillover edges...

Hi can I ask you guys what you would put inside the walls of the spillway? I am between my 6” tiles, my glass step tiles, or pieces of the travertine I am using as ledge on spillway?! What do you think? (Travertine is leaning against fence) thanks!

I would put pieces of the travertine. That will blend in better and not make that area stand out. Now if you were doing the whole spill way with that OH SO PRETTY glass tile then I would say use that!

Thank you! I wish I had found this site months ago! Would have changed so many things! 💕
