Drip edge on waterfall/spillover?

I have a pool with a hot tub slightly raised from the pool. The spa "spills over" into the pool forming a waterfall. The problem is there is no drip edge so I find a good amount of water clings to the bottom of the spill way and runs down the hot tub siding... the grout in this area slowly being taken away and occasionally I have algae growth in these areas.

Does anyone have experience remedying this problem? I thought about cutting a small gap on the under side of the spill way limestone but that seems very labor intensive and may not even work depending on how fast the water is flowing.

Any recommendations?

Good idea thank you. The picture below shows the spill over and the edge where the water collections and grows algae.
