Should I be concerned that my pH is 8.2 again today? It was 8.2 yesterday and I added the muriatic acid but it still 8.2 today. She loves the super clear pool!![]()

If the FC is under 10 (and it appears to be from your logs) then that PH test is valid.Should I be concerned that my pH is 8.2 again today? It was 8.2 yesterday and I added the muriatic acid but it still 8.2 today.
Got it, thanksIf the FC is under 10 (and it appears to be from your logs) then that PH test is valid.
however. It only really reads to 8.2. Your slam could have brought you to 9 (?) and it looks like 8.2. So you lowered from 8.2 but it really only lowered to 8.6. (Or whatevs) and still looks like 8.2. Keep adding and testing after 30 minutes circulating. It may take a few tries to be readable under 8.2. Stop when it is.![]()
It’s normal now that you are looking at it with a good test kit. Like I said it may take several tries to get the PH into the readable category as anything over 8.2 looks like 8.2. Except it’s still actually higher than that. Slow and at steady so you don’t overshoot. Add, test to verify you are still high after mixing, and add again.I’ve added MA to 7.6 per pool math after each check, and brushed well. Anything else I should be doing, or is this normal after slam. Yesterday was my first day after slam was done and my ph was 8.2 at least then, and I added MA.
Ok, just want to make sure I’m not missing something! It still looks lovelyIt’s normal now that you are looking at it with a good test kit. it’s a bit frustrating, but keep a cool head. The worst thing you can do is overreact and add too much making it a low PH problem. Not doing enough is much more preferable than doing too much at once.
It’s working. It just doesn’t read on the block like it’s working. Maybe you are down to 8.4 now which is progress from the 8.8 (?) it started as. They both look like 8.2 so youOk, just want to make sure I’m not missing something
I will go ahead and do a TA nowYou are not sharing Poolmath logs, so I am unable to find a TA reading. pH will not go much above 8.4 to 8.6 unless your TA is very high.
Edit -- You are sharing Poolmath, was looking wrong. But you do not show a TA result. You need the TA level to determine how much acid to add to lower the pH.
So does that mean every time The PH is out of whack in the 8s I should do a TA as well?Great. Now use Poolmath to come up with how much acid to use to lower your pH from 8.2 to 7.6.. It will be a lot more than you have been adding.
Thanks! Good to knowMake sure the TA test is being practiced with the static charge issue the dropper is known to have. For the first few tests you're supposed to wipe the tip with a moist paper towel between drops, also with very little pressure so the droplets fall off the same size and lastly perfectly vertical.
Yep! Perfect! Thanks everyoneLooks like the full dose of MA did the trick!
Thanks so much! But you guys rock! I’m only doing what you teach me.I've been following your journey and I'm SO HAPPY with your success! Enjoy your awesome pool!
