Questions for Dolphin Robot Cleaner Owners

You guys that run these cleaners, I got a question about when to run it.

I was thinking that I would like to run it before the pump comes on, but would want the pump to come on right after the cleaning because of anything that was stirred up but not filtered would be suspending anf go to the skimmer or drains?

With a suction cleaner, I obviously had the cleaner and pump running together but was wondering how you guys ran yours?

Can't wait to run my Intelliflo VF at whisper quiet levels!!!
My pump is on a schedule and I run the dolphin cleaner whenever it’s dirty, usually before we plan on swimming. The Dolphin will find a surprising amount of small debris you don’t even notice. I don’t worry if the pump is on or off.

I bought a dolphin Z5 back in 2014. It’s still cleaning my old pool. Fantastic product.

I now own a dolphin active 30 that I bought a cpl of weeks ago. I love it. It’s lighter than the old one which is nice. It cleans as good (they are in different pools so it’s impossible to compare apples to apples). The new filter basket design is fantastic and so much easier to deal with.
You cannot go wrong with a maytronics robot.

I just received my Explorer E30 today. Worked great for 20 min then stopped. I cleaned and reset it and it worked great for another 20 min. Now it doesn’t work at all. Waited on hold with Maytronics. They want me to ship it for service. Service after less than an hour of use. I am NOT happy. Left voicemail with Marina Pool and Spa where it was purchased. Grrrrrr

Marina Pool and Spa does not answer the phone and I mean doesn't answer the phone, period. I am confused how they run a Brick and Mortar business or any other which has no phone contact. Don't expect a call back from your Voicemail either. She may respond by email if she has your email.

I feel service and warranty may be issues on this product. The web site says call a service center, but does not list any. The only one I know of won't answer the phone. It's not that it's busy, they just don't answer it. I am seriously considering returning it, and I haven't received it yet. I thought I had investigated this sufficiently but now not so sure.

Shipping the cleaner to Israel is not a workable option to me... They certainly didn't mean that did they?

The maytronics service center is in Georgia. Register robot with maytronics and there is a contact number for maytronics on their website as well.

Les,

When you look at the robot's movements they look pretty random.. Not sure how it "maps", but I don't care..

If I have one dime-sized leaf when I put the robot in the pool, it will be gone when the robot is done.. That said, it must be able to see you, because if you are watching, it will go around the one leaf until you go inside for five minutes, and then go get it..

Thanks,

Jim R.

You have a better robot than mine. There was a small leaf on the bottom of my pool today. I ran the robot on a 2 hour cycle. The leaf was still there. Ran a one hour cycle. Still there. Ran another one hour cycle. Still there. I gave up.

This is concerning. I have called and emailed trying to procure an E30 for the last three days to no avail. What happens when I have a service issue?

every one talks great about Marina, but if they can’t answer to accept an order, I’m super hesitant to rely on it for a warranty repair.

may have to search around this weekend.

Marina will help troubleshoot and i think in some cases they have sent parts or replaced but you can still get warranty repair direct from Maytronics. Marina doesn't do online orders for the robots which keeps the manufacturer warranty in tact (it would involve shipping and I don't know if all costs are covered or not would have to read warranty)

Yeah, I have read great things about them on this forum. Just wish they responded, lol!

Yea I wish it was a little easier too but when I looked through the authorized internet reseller list on Maytronics website I couldn't find anyone that could beat the price except refurbished units so at least for me it was worth the wait

Do you have the link on their website that shows the service centers? I couldn't find it.

It doesn't directly say service center is there but that along with I remember reading a few posts on the Doheny discovery/s200 thread of people mentioning it. That thread is very long but there is a lot of good info buried in it.

EDIT: I guess this is it. Get Support - Maytronics

The only place to get warranty service?
You also might be able to find a local dealer that would help with service but a lot of them will probably only service if you purchased from them, but if I remember correctly there was a couple that did have luck with that

Marina will give you ZERO warranty support, they will tell you to go thru Maytronics. Unless you are very vocal and escalate the warranty repair issue to a supervisor, you will have to pay for shipping to them in GA, they pay for the return shipping. Several local repair providers and Maytronic dealers near me deferred repairs due to not buying local and said to send it back to GA.

Ah. Interesting. So the price is really what drives this forum to Marina

No response today from Marina. I left voicemail and sent email. Very disappointing. Hopefully they will respond tomorrow with info to get it working or a replacement. I'm not starting a game of shipping ping pong on a brand new unit.

When calling Marina, I have found doing so right at 10 AM MDT is best. That is when they open. Small operation, only have ever spoken with Seth or Margaret.

So that Dolphin Service center in GA, I just checked the number. I had called it with pre-sales questions. Their phone system was so bad I sent them poor feedback due to how hard it was to just get through the phone queue. The prompts are garbled and have drop outs. So when it is prompting you, you can't hear the prompts and it drops you for non response. Sounds like a cheap IP phone system that is not working well. Took me 5 times to figure out how to navigate it to get someone on the phone who was useless. I just wanted to ask a few questions about the phone app and if they had a document I could get or just a tech to ask a few questions. I was told THERE WAS NOBODY LIKE THAT TO TALK TO.

I'm usually good at seeing these weaknesses but was blinded on this one.

So Marina Pools and Spa said the M600 is connected to the mothership and usually all the diagnostics tells them what need to be replaced and it is DIY friendly and anything needed is sent out. She also said that if there was not anybody local that they are a Master Service Center and would support it. I don't see how that works well if they don't answer the phone. She also said local dealers would most likely support it. I found some "elite" dealers listed in my Area, they don't even carry the line.

I'm in South Florida, you'd think this wouldn't be that big an issue. I did find one seller 30 minutes away who had never sold a M600, but would sell one at $1799. Hence the transaction with Marina Pool and Spa.

I am a data guy, so would not be surprised if something had an issue in the beginning. The thing I don't want is bad or no support for a Premium product.

I am seriously considering refusing delivery of this product.
