Hi Guys
I am really struggling here to find a place to install my pool equipment. The pool contractors are going to start digging in a few weeks and I don’t have any place to put the gas pool heater. The gas technician says it needs to be 10 feet away from any window or opening. I don’t have a spot that doesn’t have a window or vent whether it’s my house or the Neigbor. I also can’t put it under the deck or in the backyard. Please looking for any suggestions here.

Ok, how about further into the yard with plans to build or plant something to hide it all? If we had a picture of your back yard we might be able to spot something?

Welcome to TFP .... glad you're here!

Wow 10 feet seems like alot...I wonder if that code exists in florida. If worst comes to worst, could you have a window replaced with a non-opening window or relocate a vent?

Welcome to TFP.

What model gas heater are you considering?

A flue/chimney can be put on the exhaust of some heaters to direct the exhaust where it is allowed.

So I live in Ontario Canada. The model is a Hayward btu 200000 I believe h200fdn. My backyard is so small in these new subdivisions they don’t give much space. My backyard is 36 feet by 25 and the pool is 12 by 27 so there isn’t much space for seating.

Put your equipment next to the deck.

Install this vent on the heater and run the pipe up the side of the house above the roof line. Check that this passes your local codes.

Issue with that is there is windows all outside the house and by the deck. And I can’t be 10 feet from any opening

Extending the exhaust above the roofline satisfies that requirement.

Anyone have experience with using a gas broiler put in basement to heat the pool?

A gas pool heater is the same as a gas boiler. If you can put a gas boiler inside then you can put a gas heater outside, It is all about where you put the exhaust.

Thanks guys for the suggestions in Ontario the gas would be more effective to use. It’s also a salt water pool. At this point I don’t have many options I can’t have it go above the roof that would look crazy for resale if we wanted to sell in 5 years.

Hey guys getting a new pool would love some feedback on which option is better for Toronto Canada in ground pool. This is a 12 by 27 rectangular pool 9100 gallons.

Option A
Hayward 200,000 btu gas heater h200fdn
Zodiac fusion salt system
1.65 HP Hayward maxflo variable speed pump

option b
Pentair variable speed super flo
Pentair sand filter
Pentair salt system IC-20
Pentair Mastertemp 250,000 btu heater

last question for Hayward which one is better maxflo or 1.85 tristar and why?

thanks all appreciate it as a new pool owner so excited.

Maxflo is Haywards entry level pump. TriStar is Haywards more robust pump.

Superflo is Pentairs entry level pump. IntelliFlo is Pentairs more robust pump.

It is up to you if you think you can benefit by a more powerful pump.

Both options are equally good. You like Fords or Chevys?
