Need Help with Intellibrite Lights and Pentair Easy Touch 4

Jim, I want to make sure I get this right (finally). Do I wire nut the red and black wires from the back bottom of the GFCI together with a jumper wire and then attach that to the load side of the Aux 2?

Yes.. the red and black go to the lights.. They get constant power now, so you are adding Aux 2 in series with with the lights so you can shut them off or turn them on.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Yes, wire nut together the red and black light wires with a 12 gauge pigtail wire to connect to the AUX2 LOAD screw.

The reason is it is best technique is to have only one wire under a screw although many folks get away with two wires under a screw. You never want to put more then two wires on an electrical screw contact.
Okay, I think I’ve got them both correct now. Would you mind taking a look?

Looks good to me. Test the lights and see that AUX2 turns them on and off. Then with the lights on press the TEST button on the GFCI outlet and it should trip and turn off the lights. If it passes the tests you are good to go.

It is fed from the main house panel. We've had the pool for 15 years and the pump for around 4, never an issue until this attempted "upgrade". I appreciate you trying to help!

Electrical codes are revised every 3 years and the requirements for pool electrical safety have changed with every revision. Existing stuff is grandfathered and it is up to you if you want to bring your equipment up to the current codes when you do an upgrade.

It all works!!!! I can't thank you enough. We have been trying to get the "idiot installer" to fix it correctly for 2 weeks and every time he left it seemed worse. Appreciate all of your and everyone's time to chime in on this and help me out. :)

Good to know. If I ever find someone in town that seems to actually know what they are doing I will have them look over everything and make sure we are doing it as safely as possible. That seems to be a big if..

Perhaps you need to tell this pool guy to check this thread and site out for an "update lesson" for his edification?

It's hard to find knowledgeable people in most trades here in Vegas.
Try being in Laughlin and have to have them come from Vegas. Pay for the time and mileage and then they do not know how/what to do!
