I have the Iaqualink and all Jandy equipment except I have the Autopilot. The autopilot does some things the Jandy SWG doesn’t, but in retrospect the Jandy would have been more practical because the IAqualink would let me know if the SWG has a problem, while the Autopilot can’t relay that information. If I had to do it again I would go with Jandy for peace of mind (knowing that I’ll be notified if the SWG malfunctions, which is probably the most critical daily information a pool owner needs).
That's really interesting. Thank you for that. That's the only part of the equipment that I've been on the fence about for that exact reason. How do you find Autopilot otherwise? I've read poor reviews on the app about bad connection and crashing.
Autopilot has been great. It stopped working a little more than three years after installation but the cell has been installed upside down. The manual instructs that installing the cell upside down will void warranty so my pool Builder paid for a brand new cell (very expensive) on the theory that they caused it. Other than that it automatically adjusts the level of chlorine production based on the temperature. But once you get used to the pool maintenance you will be able to ignore the pool for an extended period of time if you desire. I try to check my pool chemicals every three days but sometimes I get lazy and don’t test for a week. After initial chemical balance each year, the only thing that ever needs adjustment is my PH. And the muriatic acid I need to add is pretty constant so I can do that without even testing is need be. But my constant worry is that the SWG will malfunction and my pool will lose chlorine and turn green. That’s is why I would install the Jandy - for peace of mind. The only main advantage of the Pool Pilot that I can think of is the automatic adjustment of chlorine production (but that can be changed easily on your phone App with iaqualink if you have a Jandy SWG).
That's good to know. I assumed that it's similar to my hot tub maintenance. With the hot tub I checked the levels every day or so until I got a feel for what it needed. After a while I was able to just know how much chlorine to add daily and check the ph once or twice a week. Once I get a feel for the pool it will be the same thing minus the daily chlorine, thanks to the swg. Do you find that you go through a lot of muriatic acid?

The use of muriatic acid will depend on your fill water and how much aeration you cause with all of your cannon balls! LOL

Already have a Taylor k2005 for my hot tub. Just ordered the k1766.
They've made a lot of progress this week. I'll post more pics later today. I'm just a little concerned because I noticed that they used flexible PVC. Will this be a concern down the road? Other than that everything looks good so far. All of my equipment is here and correct.
Do you have problems with termites or such? How about grounds shifting? If so then they need to hard pipe it.
Has anyone measuresd the clearance between your pool and your overhead electrical service? You need a minimum of 22'6" from the water.
Good catch! It's not staying that way. Electrician comes on Thursday to bury the line and move the meter.
That is not flexible pipe. It is hose. It looks THICK AND they used TWO clamps. I bet it will be fine!

I would prefer to have a diverter valve before the pump suction for two reasons. When winterixing the pool it let’s you close and air lock that line. Depending on the pool water level it can stop water flow when you need to Open up the pump lid.

I see what you're saying. I've been reading about winterizing procedures today and I see how that would be needed to blow out the main drain. And that article about a heater bypass makes it seem like a no brainer. Based on my setup, does it look like those are two simple changes or do you think my PB will give me a hard time?
