For those with the basket modification do you run both filters always or is there any reason to keep the rough filter out and only use the ultra fine?
I'm not familiar with the basket modification but I use the rough one when i open to get leaves & larger stuff. Then i use the ultra fine the rest of the season. Having two different filters will not filter anymore/any better than just the ultra fine. They will filter down to a particular particle size. Having the rough one along with the ultra fine would just catch some of the stuff the ultra fine would get anyway. It doesn't make the water any cleaner. It's just more work to hose off two sets of filters.

And more restriction on the robot motor for no beneficial reason.

I use both.
In my pool, the smaller debris caught by the mesh includes (this time of year) thousands of tiny flying insects and bits of dried plant material that is difficult and time consuming to remove from the pleated filters.
The mesh filter is very easily and quickly cleaned of these. The pleated filters are what traps the dust and dirt and that is removed easily too. I do not see any effect on the bots suction, its ability to climb the walls or traverse the tile line by using different filter configurations.

So you can you use both the coarse and ultra fine filters at same time in this unit? Can you post a pic of what that looks like and what is need to make it happen or point me to the page in this thread it may have been discussed? Thanks in advance. Just got my new Pentair Warrior SE yesterday and must have missed this if it was an option. I figure I'd just run the ultra fine during summer and the spring filter in spring/fall for leaves and larger debris.

You likely have two sets of framed filters. One set rough and one set fine. In order to use rough and fine filtration, you need the following rough filter insert. It’s is bottomless and drops in after you assemble the fine filters in the frame. See the fourth picture in the link for a good visual.

I took the screen out once then had to spend more time cleaning the fine junk out of the pleated filters

Ok that makes sense. So that’s the upgrade people were mentioning, might have to order one of those to give it a try after I give both sets filters a good test run. Very happy with results from fine filters but cleaning them up was a little of a chore...pool was dirty. Thanks @bmoreswim ?

Somebody posted the warrior comes with the fine filters. Mine has the fine pleated and the screen insert. Is that what yours came with?

Just received my refurbished Active 20 from Pool Partz! Saved a bunch of $. Grateful to this forum for the advice. Amazed to watch it climb and clean the water line!

You will love it!!

I had a good experience doing that from them. Though my price was a steal at $499 at the time in 2017. It was a pricing anomaly. Their current price is $679 so $20 less than Marina Pool and Spa for refurbished with a 1-year warranty.

The same thing happened to me on our first run. I ran it with pleated filters only and had to spend 40 minutes cleaning them because all the tiny seed husks and insects got stuck in the pleats. The upgrade is a huge difference and I will never run it with just one again.

I never run mine without both filters. With the rough filter screen in place, it only takes a couple minutes to clean the filters. I open the bottom over a trash can, pull the rough filter screen out and tap and rinse it. The fine filters are left in place and just back flushed with a hose stream. Once in a while, I will pull the filters from the frame and run them through the dishwasher for a thorough cleaning.

Why so long to clean? Did you take the debris out by hand or w a brush? Just rinse them off like a cartridge filter. It should take less than 1 minute to rinse. Taking it apart and reassembling should be under 5 minutes.
