Been going back and forth with the designer.
Here is the final concept drawing before the construction drawings start.
Do the returns look correct? Not sure if I like the skimmer where it is currently shown.

The returns look well placed to me for the most part. Think of them pushing the water in a circular movement to get the top stuff into the skimmer. The one on the shelf is going to be your fav as it cleans the shelf for you!

Light placement-I would move the shelf side light closer to the shelf. Two reasons-1 it will light up the shelf better and where it is now is in the "swim zone". If someone wanted to do a flip turn they may push off of the light where it is.

I would also shift the skimmer a bit closer to the waterfall for the same reason as well as that return at the other end. Just a slight shift.

Have you seen these: Channel Pebble Top Drain Covers — Color Match Pool Fittings lets talk about all the good stuff about these. They are very pretty as they match the plaster, they do not block/stop cleaners and they will not stub toes when walked over!

Smart man! You do not NEED them. It is what has been done so it is what is still done. Most people don't even think about not having them. Your pool will be a purrfect one to NOT have them due to the depths.

@Dirk is the main one that makes sure to mention not having to have main drains. I always mean to say "You don't have to have them" but forget. Good catch!

The wind here is all over the place. It never seems to come from one direction. I wish it did.
The thing that bugs me about the skimmer location is that it is so close to the tanning ledge. I do't really like it where it is at.. I think it should be n the other side of the water fall.
And on top of that I have to wait for the overlord to get done with a test before I can go over it with her and know what I should really be thinking.

That will work! Know that the water fall will push the water away from the skimmer so that might be why he put it over there. Look at it from that perceptive as well.

Ok. If it was my pool that I was building......

You are going to want your returns all pointed to the left so the water in the pool swirls clockwise. So plan your locations of returns to push surface debris out of corners.

You want your return to push from the right across the ledge to the left towards the skimmer.

When your waterfall is running you can count on less skimming action due to the ripples in the water. (Trust me, I have one.) So plan your pools skimming action when the water feature is off.

Biggest thing here is clean up after the storms we get during monsoon. Lots of fine dust, and half your neighbors trees in your pool.

They didn't place the returns as suggested. Not sure why.
Maybe the skimmer should go further to the right so the water fall when running would push towards the skimmer and not fight against it.

That might be a good idea....I like the idea of using the waterfall to help push stuff to the skimmer.

So he does not know the details of the main drain rule---------IF you have a main drain it has to follow this "all safety drain covers and entrapment avoidance systems marketed must meet the new ASME/ANSI A 112.19.8 standards." I would call your local code department to see if you can get your hands on the rules for your area.

Now if you don't want to "fight" him about it then take him up on the channel kind. It is up to you.

*they say* if you inherit a trampoline this way you can almost always keep it because the owner will be too afraid to ask if it did any damage before landing in your yard.

I'll ask my plumbing inspector about it tomorrow. Might as well use the perks that come with my job for my own good!!!

So true!!! In Arizona "they say" The best thing that can happen after you buy a trampoline is for the monsoon to re-gift it. Those things are arm breakers!!!!

Anywho, attached are the design changes that the overlord has demanded.Hopefully my designer doesn't fall out of their chair. Since I wrongly suggested that we were almost complete.
