Can I run my pool filter less?

4 hours right now at 2100rpms

Can I reduce it? It's screened in so debris really doesn't get in it, I am only concerned about making sure the chlorine gets mixed up and the water is filtered as needed.

I just dont want to reduce the run time so much that my pool turns green.

Can I reduce it?

Yes, but you will be the best judge of that as you experiment with less run times. As long as the chemicals get mixed and any minor amount of surface debris gets pushed to the skimmer, you are okay. If less circulation time becomes an issue, you should see it in the clarity/quality of the water.

That says generally 4 hours is the minimum. Has anyone experimented to dare drop it even lower? Maybe once the pool stops getting used around mid October I will bring it down until the weather starts to warm back up again in March/April

During the winter you can likely go down to a lower run time. The analysis is the same. Chemicals mixed, surface debris skimmed and crystal clear water.

Somewhat joking, my pool gets 0 hours of pump runtime for 5 months per year and stays clear! However I'm in MD and it's closed/covered then. But the point is colder water is less hospitable for algae, winter means less sun and a lower sun angle, all positives for being able to reduce pump run time.
