Intex Pool In Trouble

I’m thinking Craig’s list then if no one can help. Or cut it up, toss it and get anew one. The trouble with that is the cost each year. I’m thinking that as much as I enjoy thispool every day of summer weekends and every single night during thr week, i need to get rid ofit and stop swimming. That sucks butmy back isn’t willing. No one here has ever had this happen. First time for everything I guess! Thanks for looking. Nancy

It sat out all winter due to back problems. I couldn’t cover it or take it down. Too heavy. I’m trying to set it up for the summer. I’m sucking out all water with my shop vac. Whatever is left behind I can use my leaf blower on. Finally I’ll wipe it out with wet towels. The issue is the rain. I still have back issues so I’m doing this bit by bit. I love my pool. Normally it looks like this (see below). I’ve had 3 pools over the years. I live in my pool in the summer. Three of my friends have bought there own as well as my brother. Just saying this isn’t the norm. So if you have any ideas to make it easier please share! Thanks, Nancy

Not sure what 68 minutes means. If it’s the time it takes me to reply I’m jumping on between working on my pool.
I remember this site being much more tongue in cheek and I used to watch it a lot. Too bad it’s changed.
At any rate so far I have received one “Are you kidding” which was both helpful and respectful. Most of the time I’m part of the crowd with pretty pools. My disability is getting in my way of keeping up the pool but I’m still trying in spite of the pain so let’s not judge. Next I got 68 minutes. If you can get this done in68 minutes tell me how please. If thete is a time limit I need to respond in please tell me. I try but pool work interferes. Last one I get. What am I trying to accomplish. Legit question. Summer is coming. I put this under the sat out all winter heading. Conclusion is it sat out all winter and I’m trying to get it set up. So there you have it. I greatly appreciate all of the constructive suggestions. Sorry for taking up your time. I’ll keep doong what I’m doong and hopefully I’ll have a prettier piic to post in a week or two. Thanks, N

Sorry to hear about your struggles. Do you have a pool vacuum that you use? I might be tempted to just fill it up and follow the slam process and vacuum up any remaining debris.

I'm not sure if brushing the pool and vacuuming it full would be easier for you than trying to scrub it laying on the ground

I think the 68 minutes was referring to the amount of time between posting the original question and your second post saying you are going to cut it up if no one can answer your question. TFP doesn't have paid staff to answer questions. We are all pool owners and volunteers who log in and out throughout the day, so sometimes it may take a while for a question to get a response.

As far as your pool goes, before I started to clean it up I would inflate the ring and see if it holds air overnight. The inflatable ring is usually the first thing to fail and it renders the pool useless for most people. Some have opened up a leaky ring, filled it with pool noodles and taped it shut, but its not a permanent solution. If the ring is still good, then hosing off the pool and using a shop vac to remove the water would be the first step. Mopping or wiping down the walls and floor with a mild bleach solution would be next. Unfortunately with this type of pool, the slanted walls are difficult to clean, since the pool has to be full to access most of the surface. And you are right, they are incredibly heavy for their size which also makes them difficult to clean. My suggestion would be to try and find some friends to help you clean up the pool if it is usable.

Now if you are tired of messing with it you could get a small intex metal frame pool instead. There are people here who live in northern climates that leave those pools up all winter, and the straight walls will be much easier to clean.

Can you find a strong young man (or woman)to help you spread it out so you can clean it easier? Before I found TFP, I had the same pool. I would spray Chlorox Cleanup amd scrub, then rinse thoroughly before filling. Now I would probably use bleach water and scrub, then shop vac the water out and refill. I'd also do a quick SLAM after the CYA is added.

I think I'd bleach/water the walls - Windex has a window washing product that fits on your hose - I'd buy that and swap out the fluid with bleach. That way you're spraying with cleaner - the hose is working for you. The dollar store also sells those dusting/microfiber sweepers that might be a good tool for pushing some of that scum off. If you have a porch railing you can hoist it up over that would be helpful - otherwise place a blanket over your fence and then get it up over that as well - this may be where your helper comes in.

Good luck!

How’s that for not joking around?

Picture didn't work.
So no one saw my before and after? Man! Ok I had asked for the best way to clean my pool and posted a pic. It had sat all winter with like a foot of water and spring too. The moderator asked if it was a joke. So I posted a pic of my pool after I cleaned and filled it. Just so you guys know that I seriously work hard on my pools I’ll try to post again if they let me. 530BF661-DF51-49FF-9A4F-92D9300263A9.jpegB1EF21CF-1125-4EFB-9F8F-B507A193BA04.jpeg80ACCADC-F1A2-450E-88C8-05007EBE3A62.jpeg

It looked like that black pool. Thatvwas actually this year since I couldn’t clean it in the fall. Still loving my pool!

If your question is the same as last year, there have been some helpful responses. Did you try any of those?

It's a little confusing what you're looking for here. I think you need someone to come over and help you sort this out.

Or buy a new pool. They are going on sale/closeout this time of year.

How is it doing this year?
I would second the suggestion to go with a frame pool that can be left up year round (we have a 4000gal block of ice for about 2-3mths :D ) They are super easy to maintain and might cost "less" then the chemicals and refill process for the inflatable rings (at the bonus of a bigger pool!)

Also, are you on Facebook? Go to the “marketplace” section and there is a “pools and hot tubs” section where you can find some great deals on local new and used AGPs. I know this isn’t answering your question but I helped several friends find used pools and equipment for great prices. They seemed to have better luck there than on Craigslist! This is obviously if you decide to replace the pool and don’t want to spend a boatload of money.
