Got it Catanzaro! Thank you so much for your detailed explanation for a newbie to all this. I truly appreciate it.
Beautiful pool! Nice job hanging in there!
Thank you!
I'd suggest not upping the CYA level if you aren't having huge FC losses (after slam is truly complete)
I may leave it alone for a bit to get to learn my pool as is after my testing has passed.
Our tiny pool is in full sun for at least half the day and we run @CYA/30, with very little FC loss. It keeps the sanitizer cost down and more effective(personal preference)
Ok.....it is POURING rain right now. My tests are gonna be all kinds of messed up. Ugh......
Should I shoot for the 4-6 ppm tomorrow morning?
May have to wait another day to run OLTC. RAIN RAIN GO AWAY!
Although you are nearing the end of SLAM Process, you might need to bump FC, to make sure it doesn't fall below minimum =)
Tested this morning and my FC was 5. So I lost 2.5 overnight. It did rain so I will be checking again this afternoon.
My mind is still in SLAM mode and its proving difficult for me to not have my FC at 12. So my question is....if there’s something still lurking and I’m maintain FC 8, will that give it a chance to bloom again? I can’t get into the pipes, light etc and I added some bleach to skimmers, but I’m so nervous about another algae bloom.

SLAM said:You are done when:
- CC is 0.5 or lower;
- You pass an OCLT (ie overnight FC loss test shows a loss of 1.0 ppm or less);
- And the water is clear.
That's great!Ok so today. Lost 1ppm during the day. So happy about that. I’m away for 48 hours but my son testing the pool. I’m hoping not much loss over night to pass the test. No rain in forecast so I will keep you informed.

PhotoBug:
A 1 ppm loss during the day is a great sign (can you be specific on time frames?).
Another item is that the app and there are members who designed spreadsheets to keep track of your pool levels, whether it be daily, weekly, monthly, etc. Looking at results over time will show the patterns, etc. Search for Jesse's Graph. I have everything saved, but not the link. Thanks!
