New Northeastern Pa Build

Good day yesterday!

wall-e swam for 4 hours. He tried sneaking out of the pool! Found him on the top step! I didn’t think they could do that! Slacker!

rough plumbing is done minus gas line which is no big deal. And water into building. That needs to be done though.

We did the full full layout for electrical and I did low volt layout. My buddy is pulling everything for me since he has his guys with him. Said it will take me forever if he waits for me. Lol. I have a mear 19 runs for my basement into the pool house for low volt alone. Lol. He just looked at me. I said joe. Listen this is what each of them are. He said wow wouldn’t have thought. You didn’t over do it even like usual. It’s just adding up.

Tomorrow is water tight day. Shingles and hopefully building wrap.

I got pics but on my phone. In a bit.

I’m trying to burn my garden today to kill everything in the dirt before I plant. Trying to not catch myself on fire with my homemade flamethrower. Lol. My wife brought me home pancheros for lunch. Good girl. Good girl. Lol

lol now it's not like brains fame thrower. it's more of a redneck flamethrower. totally not osha approved.

then we hit the corn hole. I made therewith my neighbor a few years ago with leftover 2x4's from my basement and few stolen sheets of birch from my buddy's shop. i then made the design in photoshop and had a shop print them out as a full size sticker pretty mcc that you would use to wrap a vehicle. i go the bags on etsy.

this is penn state country up here!

wall-E got a work out again today. darn thing loves the steps. always up on the steps. i'm impressed so far. it climbs very well. it is picking up so much dirt. i thought the pool was clean but must be dirty. looks clean. so i know it's doing it's job. i'm happy with it. 2 hrs is not enough time for a cycle though. i have been doing a 4 hr cycle on deep clean.

random thought for the day. . . how do you guys dry up testing equipment. i use the jelly beans to keep the beakers lifted to dry them. lol

i know no pics of the pool house. they r on my good camera. these were all iPhone pics so easy to put up. i'm tired.

Mantis very good. But I can’t get mine to stay running so it’s stuck in the shed. I’m not much on fixing gas engines.

On the test kit, i leave the top of mine open and it sits on the basement kitchenette counter during pool season.

I also still keep a notebook even though I now use the Pool Math app.

my mantis is going down to the guy who does our lawn mowers before each season. He said I prob have it so junked up from the ya mix. He said he is going to clean it all out and put that gas that can stay in all winter and season. Said it’s expensive but because it doesn’t get used much and uses so little gas it will be worth it.

That at might be an idea for you cause it is really a great little work horse.

Thanks everyone! We r moving. Shingles should be there by now. I’m at work.

Tonight we we have a little brick ledge issue that needs to be dealt with before electrical. The frost walls on the one side r out of square. Building isn’t so we lost 3 inches of brick ledge on one corner. No idea how it happened when the frost walls went up but it did so that needs attention ASAP. I got it all dig out to the footer so we will figure it out tonight. I got some ideas so I’ll see what my buddy thinks. He has a few also. His r better. Mine are quicker. Lol

i have a question. I swear my ph went down. it has been steady at 7.5 for over a week and now it is deff lighter in the 7.4 range. is that possible? no rain no huge water level change.

i really want to get it up to 7.7 or so cause is wrecking havoc on my csi cause my water is still only 55. my csi is -.410 if the ph is 7.4 now vs 7.5.

i have had my eyes pointed straight up cutting the water for a week now. i usually run 24/7 at 1500 RPM but for 3 hrs each day i go up to 3250 to skim. any other way to get my ph up a bit? or don't worry. dare i mention PH UP from walmart on this board. lol

Jim? It went DOWN? with your returns pointed up and rolling the water good? Interesting.............well here is a copy/paste for pushing your pH up without sending more than you need to:

"PH can be raised in three ways: borax, soda ash, and aeration. Borax is usually the best choice. Borax raises the PH and also raises the TA level just a little. If your TA level is low soda ash will raise both the PH and TA levels. If your TA level is high, aeration is best as it will not raise the TA level at all. However, aeration is rather slow compared to the other two.

Borax is available as 20 Mule Team® Borax Natural Laundry Booster. It is sold in the laundry detergent section of most larger grocery stores and some big box stores. Borax is best added by pre-dissolving it in a bucket of water and then pouring that slowly in front of a return.

Soda ash is available as ARM & HAMMER® Super Washing Soda Detergent Booster. Do not confuse this with ARM & HAMMER® laundry detergent! It is sold in the laundry detergent section of most larger grocery stores and some big box stores. It is also sold by pool stores under various names, including PH Increaser, PH Up, Balance Pak 200, etc. Soda ash is best added by pre-dissolving it in a bucket of water and then pouring that slowly in front of a return.

Aeration can be provided by a SWG, spa jets, waterfall, fountain, return pointed up so it breaks the surface, air compressor, kids splashing, rain, etc. It can take some time for aeration to raise the PH. The higher your TA level, the faster aeration will work."

Let me know how it goes and keep a close eye on it and let me know what happens as I am very curious about this one.

Kim,

TA is 70. Borax seems like best choice?

Maybe I wasn't aerating good enough. i just turned up my eyes more and now it sounds like a hose is being poured into the pool in an arch. you know what i mean. its loud in my backyard now. lol maybe i wasn't cutting the water enough.

It deff looked like it went down. yesterday and day before I was like oh the color is going up past the 7.5. getting good. tonight it was deff the lower color. not 7.2 but it was not 7.5.

say what. . . . . !!!!

my wife bought borax a few weeks ago to make slime with the kids. came out good!

it is 20 mule team borax. so i can use that.

what do you think? go for it? take it up very slow. I'll just up it to 7.6 based on a 19K gallon pool so i don't go up past 7.8 if i mess up the numbers a bit?

or let it go. i just don't think i should keep that csi negative for 2 weeks now this friday.

Ok Kim that’s what I’m going to do. They ran for 3 hrs on high last night. Then 1500 only. It is a solid 7.5 so no change really. Raing all day. When it stops tonight I’ll see what it’s at and add a little Borax and test. How long does borax take to read on the test. I know to pre mix it in a bucket and pour in.

i mixed in 20 oz of Borax. Got the ph back up to 7.7-7.8. my csi is now -.05. back in very safe zone.

so when i go salt I am shooting for a csi slightly below 0 so i prevent scale buildup like I was reading today?

But I don't want to be all the way near -.3 though right?
