New Pool Build Pearland, TX (Houston area)

Call the PB as soon as you get up and he is answering his phone. Put a level on that overflow like said above to show just how out of level it is. You and I both know all of the water will will go there and become a pour instead of a sheet of water :(

Going with my gut I would think they need to add more gunite OR grind down the poured BUT I do worry about grinding as it could be kind of thin there and go into the rebar.

Ask the PB how he is going to fix it BEFORE they put on the plaster. Do NOT let them try to fix it with plaster as the plaster is not that thick and it will be hard to tell if it is level.

 I hate when stuff like this happens :(

Your build has been moving along really fast!

Did you put a level on it to see just how bad it is? Definitely looks like it's sloped a good degree. I think I'd want that fixed with gunite. Hopefully Kim will chime in. Were you able to say anything to them or did you see it after they were done?

So silly question maybe but Google had varying answers - strangely enough. How many bottles are in a flat?

Saw it in the early evening after I came home from taking our oldest to speech therapy. 24 bottles in a flat for water, the gatorade was less. I sent PB the photo and PB says it is ok and will be fixed. He alerted the gunite crew and said it can also be taken care of by the tile/coping crew. :)

It looks huge!!! Love it. I bet you're all giddy!

That is going to be a GREAT pool!! The curves, the round-over beam on the spa, it all looks fabulous. Nice work!

Wow!

Thanks! We are pleased with it and will love the comfort of the round over in the spa, it will have slightly two level seating too some of the jets hit you higher on the back. Just wish the bench under the waterfall was a little recessed, but didn't catch that due to the excitement.

So we were going to have the covered patio framed today, but change of plans and the plumbers are coming! Heading to Costco to pick up a bigger flat of gatorade. Rain is also coming later today...

It looks great!!

We had one part of the RBB that was slightly off-level, and it was easily fixed with mortar when they did coping and tile.

Thank you, we think so too. The PB alerted the gunite crew and they came out to take a look. Either they will fix it or the tile/coping crew will take care of it.

Love the rolled spa, this will look great, are you doing 1 inch tiles on this part?

Thank you, we were glad our PB does the round edge as their signature spa upgrade, it will be nice and comfortable too. Yes, we have to do 1" due to the shape. The subway style looks cooler, but won't work for the spa.

Plumbing was finished today. Unfortunately I wasn't able to take as many photos as I wanted, because they were already covering the pipes.

Equipment pad with extra 3.5' for storage.

More photos coming soon...

Knowing that it took 64 actual working days to complete our pool and where they are at with yours makes me wonder. Was my pool builder going to slow or is yours going to fast. Our builder was building 6 pools at the same time so maybe that makes the difference. Can't wait to see this completed within the next few weeks.

How many gallons will this pool be?

Edit - we also did a fire pit and BBQ. Here in California every piece of the build needs to be inspected by the city inspector. That also causes delays here.

Amazing how much progress gone done this week, great job! We're your sprinkler lines in the way of the pool equipment slab? Did they go around them?

We.have definitely been happy with the daily progress. :)

They were actually right at the edge and below the slab along with the wiring. I was able to take a photo after they dug for the pool pipes and broke the main line to the front. :(

We have several things going in our favor to allow for a quicker build so far and let's hope it continues: we are in the county and have no required permits or inspections, the weather has been cooperating, and our PB has been able to get us on the subcontractors schedules.

Not sure how many gallons, is there a way to calculate it?

Our framing of the patio did have to wait. The lumber was delivered on Friday, but it was supposed to rain on Saturday, so they didn't come and the electricians did instead. Yep electrical in the rain or at least the digging and the rain stopped by the time they needed to do hookups.

And the gunite crew did come back to level the spa spillover by chiseling and then applying cement. Chiseling at 7 am on a Saturday! Poor us and poor neighbors. It isn't pretty, but the tile and coping crew should be able to work with it.

And after 5 days of waking up early we finally got to sleep in on Sunday, NOT! I was woken at 3:30am by one of our dogs to be walked for a potty. And I also kept waking up thinking another crew had shown up to do some work.

I'm surprised you aren't dreaming about pool crews, lol. Glad to see they got back out to fix the gunite and you definitely haven't stopped the fast progress. Yea for electric!

Pool Studio, especially the newest version will splice your pool design and give you the gallons. As your PB.

I'm not looking forward to annoying the neighbors with 7 a.m. gunite work. We're going to try and avoid that on a Saturday.

Oh if I dream about it I hope they are good dreams and everything is going smoothly and correctly.

Thanks I will ask our PB if they can get it from Pool Studio.

Om my goodness I know, had I known they were going to come on Sat morning I would have rescheduled them, but they were here already and I didn't know they were going to chisel. Just thought they would float it. Definitely make sure the gunite trucks don't show up on the weekend. They are so very loud.

You will want to bookmark this link as you will be using it when you get water in your pool. For now go down to the bottom and you will see a place to put in numbers to help you figure the pool size.

Cool thanks I will check that out. :)

And they set the post today for the patio and depending on the weather may start framing. And yep right where pool plumbing was, so pipes were cut and removed and the plumbers will need to come back and redo the pipes in that area.

Hopefully it's a quick fix for your sprinkler system.. Our dig starts tomorrow and I left out of town for training, i went ahead and digged a hole about every 10ft where pipes are visible in hope of them to try to avoid unnecessary sprinkler line breakage. Keep us posted with your progress

Yay, the dig! I hope that helps prevent breakage for yours. For us they just dug away and didn't seem to take care if anything was underneath.

Photo below of the plumbing fix around the patio cover support post. They really had to angle the return pipe around that huge post.

Do you have lighting on that side of your house where the panel is? I saw and read on a thread here where it's a good idea to have them install a light right on top of the panel for lighting if needed...

Yes, they put one with two lights closer to the pool equipment so hope I can angle it enough to shine on the panel.

I asked about the included test kit and PB said it is the Small 4 in 1.

Good call on the light for the pool equipment. That makes life much easier.

:( on the test kit. That is not much of a test kit. At least it is not "guess" strips..........please see if you can squeeze your budget a little bit to order one of the test kits we use and love. A good test kit is the corner stone of all we teach here. Look in my siggy for the one I have and love. It is the best bang for the buck as it has more of the regents used daily and most often.

Yes, I will probably buy a TF-100 from the TFP store. :)

Thanks for the pics. I am right behind you in the build process. Our designs look similar...minus the spa. I will certainly be following your build!

Oh wow you are right they are similar. Did they schedule your tile and coping? No date for ours yet, but we were told maybe this week or next...
