Yellowing Of White Pool Components

Hi All -

Have not posted since my pool start up, but just finished my second summer in my pool, and I am noticing a yellowing of many of my white plastic pool components. Correct me if I’m wrong, but water chemistry has been pretty decent, aside from an upwardly drifting pH, that I knock down with MA.

Some degree of discoloration wouldn’t surprise me, but this seems to have been a pretty quick onset, starting about 3-4 mos ago, and getting worse. Any thoughts on cause or if I should be concerned? I noticed it first in my robot vacuum basket and its filter screens, where it is the most drastic, but it is also occurring in my skimmers (you can literally see a yellow water line) and most recently I noticed on my main drains when brushing (no pic of those). Any observations would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

Matt G

Iron/metals testing is the only test TFP ever suggests you get from a pool store.
You may want to get one on your pool water & your fill water to see where u stand - just don’t buy anything they try to sell u!
This will help determine if there’s something in your pool causing the stains (rusting metal somewhere) or your water source.
Here’s some info on how to deal with iron 👇

* also - have you used clorox pool salt? It has been known to have impurities & cause staining.
