why cant i seem to get this pump cover on?

the guys who opened the pool had to crank the cover off. I know it should be tight, but it shouldnt be this hard to tighten this cap. any suggestions? new O ring?

I see you have an orange mallet sitting there. I use a rubber mallet to GENTLY tap the ears to loosen the lid and then to snug it up. Being tight prevents air leaks.

You also should use Pool Lube - Further Reading on the lid O ring.

thank you! there was a small nick in the plastic container under neath. Was able to get it snug and now I have FLOW!
