Jandy Bulkhead Assembly over tightened help

Rookie here so please be patient. My Jandy drain cap was leaking so I disregarded the "hand tighten only" warning and used tools. So it stopped leaking but the next time I went to clean my filters when I went to loosen the drain cap the entire drain cap and threaded bulkhead with o ring came undone. After cleaning my filters and putting everything back together all was well but the bulkhead was leaking where it's threaded into the filter tank and so of course I tightened it and it just kept leaking. I went to a local pool store and they had me buy a new o ring and lube and suggested I take it off and also use plumbers tape. So I did exactly that removed the drain cap which is threaded into the bulkhead which is threaded into the filter tank. I added the o ring to the bulk head, lube and plumbers tape on all threaded parts put everything back together and its still leaking at the bulk head and filter tank thread. I tried tightening it using tools, still leaking. So I wanted to take it apart again and start from scratch but now I can't get the bulk head off. So my first question is, is the bulkhead threaded lefty loosey or am I going the wrong way. I'm so frustrated I can't think straight! Any suggestions as to how I get this bulkhead off? I've pretty much shredded it to bits as this point. I know I'd be fired for sure!

The bulkhead assembly should just screw out lefty loosey. It has a shouldered nut built onto it so you can gain purchase with a pair of channel locks or a crescent wrench. If that’s been chewed up you can get a large pipe wrench/strap wrench on the bulkhead itself. You should check for a cracked housing where the bulkhead threads into the lower tank half. It’s possible you damaged it by over tightening.
