As you see above, tons of white specks in my pool. It’s only visible with the light on. I have a SWG so I assume it’s calcium. I can’t get rid of it. I tried sc-1000 but seemed to make it worse.

I’ve had the problem from the start. Pool was installed Sept 2023. Test results at the end of this post.

The only time I saw improvement was at the end of a SLAM. Once the salt cell went back on they came right back. Not really sure what else to do. Only thing I can think of is to get my salt cell on a separate timer. Any thoughts or suggestions?? Maybe it’s not calcium?

Chlorine: 5.0
Ph: 7.8
TA: 65
Calcium hardness: 350
CYA: 60
Salt: 3,250
CSI: -0.04
Temp: 89

How do you measure a TA of 65?

What test kit are you using?

What model SWG do you have?

Your SWG is throwing off the scale from its plates. That is the white specs.

Borates in pool - Further Reading may help stabilize the pH and CSI in the cell and reduce the scale thrown off.

I have a Jandy TrueClear. I use the Taylor K-1000 DPD test kit for everything.

Thanks for the article. I hadn’t heard of using borates to stabilize PH. I have to add muriatic acid every two days to keep it down.
