Hi All, we had our in cround 17000gal pool resurfaced with marquis pool finish and added a salt chlorinator system (iChlor 30). We did the recommended everyday brushing for 30 days as well as kept up with the contractor recommended pool chemistry through our local Leslie's water tests and recommendations every other day. The salt system was not started during the first 45 days and in short order it stopped working, so the pool was handled as a non salt pool for the first few months. Now, after those few months later, there is a white powder-like substance is in the pool, that we don't seem to be able to get rid of. It sticks to everything, the pool vacuum line is covered, the tile at the waterline become covered, the metal pool light become covered and brushing those don't help much, the substance sticks hard. When we brush the pool, a lot of white clouds getting stirred up. We were told to by the contractor to get a new cartridge filter and brush the pool everyday for a week, run the pool motor on high (clean cycle) and clean the filter every day 2 hours after brushing, which again we did as instructed. The pool is still full of the white substance. Everything, including the tile, the pool light, the vacuum line, the side and bottom of the pool, the stairs, etc., all become harsh to the touch, covered with this white substance. Naturally we are not happy with this outcome. The pool contractor told us that the problem is the pool chemistry. The pool chemist told us that the chemistry is okay and the new marquis pool finish is coming apart. They keep passing the ball to each other both blaming the other. Do anyone have an idea what is this could be and how to fix it? Thank you.
