What’s my backup during replacement of IC40

I have an IC40 that failed. It was down a week before I realized it. The pool is a nice green lagoon color now. I know I need to SLAM now, but what’s the best way to supplement until the warranty replacement comes through?

Vinyl pool, 16,500 gallons. Pentair system.

I have a floating tab dispenser that I use for the winter.

Thanks for the quick reply. I’ve only had the pool for a year and am new to all of this. Is there a link you have to best practices for using liquid? I don’t even know where to put it in!
You just pour it right in. Don’t splash any on your shirt or wipe your hands on your clothes unless they’re already white.

Welcome! Read those links posted above - they are really going to be helpful!

You’ll pour LC in front of a return and let it disperse through the pool.

This is a great tip. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve accidentally splashed myself while pouring chlorine into the pool!

Thanks all! This forum and associated website is amazing.

I’ve been using a pool service and didn’t think I could figure out all the chemicals on my own. I’ve been reading a lot here and just ordered a TF-100 Salt test kit, a stirrer, and some test strips.

3 week estimate for my IC40 to be replaced under warranty.

Test strips?

Just to play with, above and beyond the TF100. I know they’re not recommended as the primary chemical control, but for $15 I just wanted to see for myself how well they work.
Your choice. But it’s not just that they’re not recommended, they are super not recommended 😉 and a waste of money.

What FC/CYA level have you been maintaining that the pool turned green in a week?
