What test kit is this?

So the tf100 would be just as good or better than the k2006
The TF100 is 2.7X better than the K2006. While more comparable, it is still better than the K2006C because the TF100 is doled out to how we test things, and considerably cheaper.
Does it have all the hardware (non liquid vials, charts etc needed to interpret the numbers?
Yes. As does the one you posted above. For the $8 difference i would just start new, but i understand the art of the deal.

I also have a reef tank that measures salinity and have a refractometer. Would that give me readings in the numbers for pool chemistry or is it different info that I may need? I attached pic for reference.

If not what about the CH-600 ph & salt meter that is available on tftestkits? Seems like a good idea and don’t have to worry about reagents expiring…..

Pool salinity is 1/10 of the way to the blue line in the middle of the scale. It's too vague for 1.003 to 1.004

Its a fun add on toy, but digital testers aren't as accurate and sometimes go wonky.

The salt reagents are good for 2 years when stored climate controlled.

I had one of those things. I thought it was an upgrade but was very disappointed and went back to an aquarium hydrometer with a more suitable range. I notice that Red Sea now supply one with a range of 1.000 - 1.030 s.g. Still useless for a pool but better for an aquarium then 1.000-1.070. :)

Electronic meters can be useful but without calibration they are just random number generators. It can be difficult finding quality calibration solutions within the appropriate range and they expire the same as normal reagents.

Ok I ordered the Tft salt kit for $105 w/free shipping.
You defiantly want the smart stir (magnetic stirrer). I would never be without one.

Flat out @OasisInVegas.

The TF100 is 2.7 times larger than the comp price k2006

The TFpro has better supply ratios for how we test (more FC reagents and less unnecessary TA /CH), includes the $45 stirrer and has a nicer case than the comp price K2006C.

Unless you have Amazon gift cards / rewards to burn, tftestkits is a no brainer.

This is reassuring. I bought the TFpro kit the other day without too much consideration. I just trusted it since it was a recommendation from here.

And
1. Amazon sources can be suspect with expired, or about to expire, reagents.
2. Ordering from Taylor has been know to take several weeks to ship.

We wouldn't do anybody wrong. The TFtestkits are better values than their Taylor counterparts. There is no 2 ways about it. Most people buy the Taylor anyway, for reasons I can't comprehend.

Its still fine if that makes them happier, and we can and do give advice from any Taylor drops, regardless of the packaging.

Oh yeah. And the TF kits owner is available here for any problems to publicly make things right if need be, quickly. Good luck getting Beezos to respond to your post. :ROFLMAO:

Is this the same thing? Would this work with the tftestkit vial?

IIRC that one doesn't fit the test vials. It's totally fine to use whatever vials fit it, but you'd have to purchase those too.

*edit. Found the thread. In 2023 it did not fit the Taylor vials.

That’s a cool looking gadget. USB rechargeable is a good idea. But apart from the vials not fitting it doesn’t have a light which is helpful to see the colour change. I would go with the smart stir or speed stir (links from @PoolStored’s post) which has the light and fits the Taylor vials. And if you ever try the borate test a 50ml beaker will sit on top.

I have a little 5V bench top magnetic stirrer as a backup. I’ve used it once when my batteries died and had to set up a little torch.

I noticed in the BRS video they are using a speed stir.
