Yeah it sure sounds like something organic is stuck somewhere in the system. If you can I would run a snake up those main drains and see if you can feel anything in there. It’s tuff to snake it the right way as the pool is full of water,
but you should be able to dislodge anything stuck in there if it is.

I just checked chlorine and still holding at the same 12.5% from this morning. SWCG was put back on at that time too at 50% but I don't think that would add much in 2.5 hours. I bumped it to 70% just now. God I hope this over! He can always run without a main drain my only concern is eventually whatever is in there will seep out it isn't like the drain is sealed on the pool end.

Just checked and chlorine INCREASED to 13.5!! Optimistic at this point that we have a smoking gun!

I would open the main drain to try to clear the lines, if there's even anything in them.

We still have not added any chlorine accept what the swcg produces and this morning chlorine was at 5. He had a big party yesterday for Father's day and 4 dogs were swimming in the pool. The bottom was covered with dirt this morning. I suggested to him he wait until this week to address the issue with the main drain. He is going to see about removing the cover today or tomorrow for inspection. Hopefully whatever is in there is right at the top. I am sure whatever it is is using some chlorine even though the drain is not circulating anymore as it must be seeping up out of the drain. I'll check again at noon and am hoping for a higher level of chlorine than now as I increased the swcg to 90%.
