16x32 above ground pool, all levels perfectly balanced including ph, hardness, chlorine and free chlorine. It’s been crystal clear and beautifully blue all summer. Had almost a week of really high temps and then a lot of storms and rain. Shocked it and kinda at a loss now? Is it the beginning of ….algae? Filter not working the way it’s supposed to?

Welcome! You have algae. You'll want to follow the SLAM Process using either a TF-100 or Taylor K-2006C test kit to maintain the proper elevated FC level (not just a one-time shock). That is very important. If you follow that SLAM page to the letter, it will work and your water will look better than ever. Let us know if you have any questions.

What are you using to test? What is your CYA level?

Good read --> FC/CYA Levels

My guess is that you have high CYA (you likely use pucks to chlorinate) and didn't maintain a high enough level of FC to maintain sanitation with high CYA.

TFP doesn't recommend pucks for chlorination (except for vacation), because they contain CYA. The only way to remove CYA is to drain and replace water.

Get a good test kit. Pronto. Then we can help you fix your pool!!! Test Kits Compared
