What did you do to your pool today?

The microscopic red bugs sound like Clover Mites. Crush one with your finger, if it leaves an orangish smear, that is probably what it is. They like to "sun" themselves on warm surfaces. The good news is that, unlike chiggers, Clover Mites do not bite people or pets. They can be killed by just about any insecticide.

Do you don't think the red bugs and the black bugs are the same? That's at least a start. The red bugs do seem to be out more when it is sunny. It's raining today, but will check that as soon as I can.

Thanks!

I don't have a clue what the black bugs may be. They are not clover mites though. How big are they? Do their hind legs stick out backwards lookin like they may drag? If that is the case, they may be juvenile Japanese Beatles. Post a picture if you can.

They don't really look like they have legs, they just wiggle back and forth, like some kind of larvae possibly. [emoji53]

I never thought of that!! Smart thinking!!

QUOTE=Propbndr;795789]Sorry, but I have no clue what they may be. If I were you, I would skim them and put them in a tightly sealed plastic grocery bag so they don't spread any more then they already have.[/QUOTE]

Tested, brushed, added 2# conditioner, checked the SWG (clean as a whistle), turned on the heater to raise the temp to a "Mom approved" number and then splished and splashed while she did the float thing.

====UPDATE=====

Sat back with a barley pop and mellow Sirius tunes and watched the noodle races when the afternoon breeze picked up. For the record: yellow noodle won edging out blue the one at the finish and the Hello Kitty life ring was disqualified for cutting the course.

Dove in it after it rained all night and all morning. It was 76 and I was HOT. That is the record lowest temp I have ever jumped in. Didn't stay in long but it was good. Went in twice.

I landscaped around mine all day and humidity was about 100%! Geesh it was muggy. So of course, what to you think I did for relief? I jumped in the pool! On multiple occasions! ahhhhhh.... man! No better way to cool off when the seat is pouring off of you and steam is rising from your scalp!

This evening, I emptied the skimmer.

I finally finished my storm cleanup yesterday. Everything is nice and sparkling clean, waiting for the next storm. :mrgreen:

Low and behold, I went in for my first dip. At 74, I wont be back in until we are at least 8 degrees warmer. Lots of good reports here from the weekend, good to hear the updates!!

Sissy! Oh my goodness if I waited for 8 more degrees I'd never get to swim!

Flipped the switch for the pool pump.
