Hi - 72 years old - just moved into a Florida home with an open air (no cage) Omnilogic controlled pool. It is under pine trees so expect to be exploring skimming options quite a bit! I’ve had a Chlorine pool for many years before but this is salt with a spa and whopping great heat pump. (Currently it’s almost being set to cool the pool in the ridiculous heat). Very excited to find this wonderful resource. Thanks!

Randall,

We have no ads as most all of us are volunteers...

We are mostly supported by donations.. After you have been here for a while, and found that we have provided you with some useful information or ideas, then we just ask that you think about joining our supporters...

We have nothing to sell you, so we can tell it like it is... Whether you want to hear it or not...

Welcome to TFP..

Welcome to TFP !!!

It's been refined a whole bunch, but basically this place is a giant collection of 'don't screw up XYZ like I did'.

Helping others avoid our own follies makes us feel better that we saved somebody else from being a bone head too. :ROFLMAO:

Hi and welcome to TFP!! A salt pool is a chlorine pool. It is just that the SWG (Salt Water Generator) turns the salt into chlorine for you. The SWG does the work for you instead of you having to lug jugs of chlorine around!

Now how are we ad free??? First off know all of the MODS, Experts, Guides are volunteers. We do this to help people learn how to care for their pools in a science based method that has been proven over time to work and be oh so easy! Not to mention it is cheaper than getting stuff from the pool store as we know what to buy at the big box stores like Lowes and Walmart! HOW NEAT IS THAT??? Look down at my signature for our recommended chemicals to use in the pool.

The only thing you have to get is your own test kit and we don't sell the test kits here at TFP LOL. There are two main test kits we use as seen in this link: Test Kits Compared

So why not use the "free" pool store tests? Is it really free if you walk out with your arms full and wallet empty?? NOPE! Many of us have taken our water to our local stores for "test" testing once we learned about the proper care for our pools. Here in my town we have 4 stores. 3 with the same name and one that is a different name (all national chains). I got wildly different results! They all used the same water from the same bottle on the same day!! The price to "fix" my crystal clear water ranged from $50 to $125  My personal test with my test kit showed my water was right in range.

I am not sure why you are not. I did a peek to see if I could see your settings but that is beyond my "pay grade". Go back to your settings to make sure you have it set right:
-Click on your name
-Preferences
-Receive a notification when someone...

Go down the list and click on alert and push for the ones you want to be notified about. When it is set and working you should see a "bell" on the top right with a red number on it telling you how many of your threads have a new response.

Let me know if it works or does not work. We can get our IT guy on it if it does not work.
