We're doing this again! Orlando OB Take 2 -PLASTERED! 6/1

Did they say why your pavers are delayed? My builder told me last week that there will be a 3 week delay in pavers. I didn't ask why buy when I told my husband he was mad. He said they knew to order the pavers so it should not be a supply delay. My neighbors had pavers installed a month ago on their driveways and I doubt they waited too long. But with all the building going on I would not be surprised if they just don't have the supply.
I think the manufacturing is just running behind. It was weird since they delivered the coping Friday morning, I reached out to my contractor and he said the deck pavers would be a separate delivery. He followed up the week prior and last week to make sure they were on target, I am not sure what happened right at the end that threw things off... I am hopeful that maybe they show up earlier than the Thursday/Friday estimate. I too was pretty upset for the same reason. I told my paver guy a long time ago to go ahead and order them, I have room on my lot to store them and they could have sat here. He didn't want them to get dirty, so, he timed it to have them delivered right before they needed them. Of course, that didn't pan out. I think they will jump on the install as soon as they are here. He actually has guys here doing the coping this morning.

If all goes well, it won't hurt me in the long run, my screen is still my critical path, until I get an official install date on that, everyone else has some time. I have been fortunate to have some really good subs. Even the paver guy has communicated well. My final grade had to slide back a week for this delay, no trouble with him. Plumber has been awesome at keeping ahead of critical items.

Well at least you are moving along! I think we are about the same path then but maybe 2 more weeks for pavers. No coping yet but plumbing is all done. Concrete just showed up to do the concrete for the patio area, and then the roof and then screen it (no pool screen). Oh and plaster. I think that will take the longest to get done. When are you supposed to get plaster done? What did you decide on plaster color and finish? We are doing Stonescapes Aqua White.

We are doing Wet Edge Prism Matrix, Deep Sea Blue... Wet Edge | Products | Deep Sea Blue

As of now, we're scheduled for week of 5/17, however, for mine, it requires that the screen is installed first (our screen is part of the safety barrier for the pool), so, that is 100% dependent on getting the screen in. I fully anticipate that I will have to slide plaster back a bit.

My oldest daughter is turning 5 in early June, I have talked Momma into doing the party the weekend after her birthday instead of the weekend before, but at this point, I am not sure if I am going to have anyone swimming by then or not. Ideally, I need plaster done by like June 4 in order for her to have a pool for her birthday party. We have rented a bounce house as the backup plan, so all won't be lost, but when I submitted for my permit in January, I thought for certain that her birthday would be easy.

Well I was hoping to be done by mid May for Memorial Day but that is probably wishful thinking :-(. The super stopped by and I asked about plaster being delayed and he said that part is not too delayed. The pavers is a manufacturing delay because of all the demand. They put the order in months ago too. I guess if anything teaches you patience it is building a pool!
We have done the inflatable many years when we did not have a pool. My one advice is to have a kiddy pool at entrance to home to dip feet, otherwise grass gets EVERYWHERE in house if they have any access to inside the house.

Good thought! I suspect mine will be worse than grass if the pool isn't done, I am going to have mud all over the place since I won't have any sod down yet. If I do have sod down, I am going to have to set up the bounce house in an area that isn't new sod, and create a path of some sort for people to walk through that isn't on my new sod. I don't know if I have learned patience through 2 pool builds, I think I have learned that I don't have very much of it!

Nah, all things considered, I am quite happy with how things have gone, specifically since my gunite shoot. I will basically be 5 weeks from gunite to decking/grading. I can't complain. Just got a text from my paver guy as well, pavers should be here Thursday/Friday, and they will be back on Monday or Tuesday next week to install my deck.

So your pavers arrived, do they install today or next week? Any pictures?
Is your electrical done? When was your permit approved? I am about to yell at my builder and will use you as a comparison :). Our permit was approved November 20th and still need electrical (they said hopefully next week), patio concrete, screen, roof, also pavers and plaster and I guess final grade and inspection. To me it seems like you are way ahead and I think you started in February. Just very irritated today since I thought concrete would have been done yesterday (inspection was completed 2 days ago) and I assume that is a first thing in the morning job - and nobody here this morning.

Sorry, I know it's frustrating. It's actually one of the reasons I like to do owner-build stuff. At least I have some control, though still not nearly as much as I would like. Below is my timeline. My electrical is not done. He has done the big stuff I think, but still needs to pull the lights through and some of the finishing touches. The guy I have is doing it on the side, on the weekends. I suspect probably next weekend he will finish, either way, I am confident that if I tell him I need it functional by XX date, he'll hit it. I'll try to post some pics of the pavers later. I very unexpectedly lost my grandmother this week, so I haven't really thought too much about it other than coming here to occupy my mind. When I am able to see through the pain, I will realize how blessed I am that she was at my house on Sunday and got to see my pool and loved it.

Timeline
Permit - 2/4/21
Layout/Dig/Steel - 3/12-3/16
Gunite - 3/29-3/30
Plumbing complete - 4/6
Tile complete - 4/12
Footer for screen - 4/16
Coping - 4/26
Pavers - 5/3-5/5 - ish

From there, I do not have a screen install date yet... I am hoping for the following week... I am tentatively on the schedule for pebble the week of 5/17, but I'll have to push that if my screen doesn't get installed. My slightly more realistic "fill it up" date is 5/25, which will be 74 days from dig to water. My previous pool was 79 days, so, I am running right about the same schedule there. I was fortunate to have an amazing plumbing/tile sub that actually beat his schedule, that was a huge help to getting back on track after a 5-week delay on dig (was told 2 weeks right before permit) and a 2.5 week delay on gunite (was told 3 days before the dig was done). My permit also took me about 6 weeks longer than I expected. My HOA took 3+ weeks and the City took a full month. My City usually turns things around in 2 weeks or less, turned around my screen permit in 3 days. I don't know why the pool got hung up.

In any event, I definitely know that I am ahead of where I would be with a builder and if I can get a date on the screen install, I'll feel good about getting it done.

Oh my goodness, I am so sorry for your loss. And such a blessing that she could share in your joy on Sunday.
Thank you for sharing your timeline. I am going to get on my builder because they are way too slow especially if my permit was approved in November and yours in February. Hopefully you will be in your pool soon and the whole reason to have a pool - share with family - will be here before you know it.

 Feels from me as well. Hang in there.

Update!

My pavers are finishing up today! Below are some pics from yesterday's progress. Dirt should be moved on Friday, the screen is set to be installed by 5/21, and water the following week if all goes well! There were some issues yesterday with the screen and some details related to that, but I think we're past those and should be on pace. My little girl's birthday party is going to be June 12, so, I should have water in for 2 weeks at that point and will be balanced and ready for it's first swimmers.

I have scheduled my safety fence and plaster, electrician has confirmed that he will complete by then, I am starting to feel OK about actually having a finished pool!

Looking great! Can't wait to see the end result!

Alright, this is way off topic, but surely I'm not the only one thinking it. I can't help but notice TopGolf next door. What on earth is that enormous screened structure at your neighbors house for? I know you Floridians enjoy the screened areas, and I don't blame you, but that has to be one of the largest ones I've seen!

Haha, It is interesting. They have a nice bar setup in there from the pics I have seen, I have wondered if it used to be larger and then they built the garage/bar and shortened it.

It's interesting because that house used to be about 300 yards away on the lake across the street from my house. When the developer did the subdivision, he moved the house and lived in it for a while. Another interesting fact... my sister's 5th grade teacher lived in the house in it's original location. It was her family home historically and I think the house was built in the 1920's or something.

Here are a few pics from this morning, not the best lighting, but the only ones I have snapped so far. Ignore the hole in the middle, that was the screen snafu I mentioned in an earlier post, screen guy neglected to tell me that he needed a footing under the pavers here, so they have to add it after the fact. It makes sense and I am kicking myself for not asking, but my previous pool had a similar setup with no footers in the middle, so I didn't worry about it. Oh well, it's being addressed with no impact to my schedule and only a smallish impact to my budget.

WOW!! It looks fantastic!! I can tell you are ready for your daughter's party! What pavers are those? I yelled (my husband still thinks my email was too nice) at our builder on Friday and they have ignored my email. But this morning it was nice to see pavers were delivered. Who knows how long they will sit there until installation but at least I am happy to see them. Mine are Flagstone White/pewter, they look a lot like yours.

Yep, that's what they are, I love them. We did the Traverstone series, they were the largest format they had. Glad yours arrived. Ours were a week late and my paver guy didn't even get notice that they weren't being delivered on the original date. Hope yours are on the schedule for install soon!

Mine is the liberty, I think the only difference are mine are the thick ones. So I just spoke with the super. He basically said that the builder oversold and everyone is scrambling - he seemed upset that he is put in that position because all the customers are unhappy now. So I get it, they had all this business thrown at them since everyone wanted a pool in central Florida and now they can't keep up. At least I appreciated him being honest. Wish I went the owner built route like you! But I knew nothing so it may not have been wise. He did say that he is not sure when my pavers will be installed because there is a big price hike coming up and they are trying to deliver as much as possible prior to the hike. I am not sure if that is Flagstone that is trying get inventory delivered or my builder but glad we got ours before the price hike!

These days getting inventory can be worse than finding workers. If prices are going up soon that’s TWO biggies to be happy about. :)
