We're doing this again! Orlando OB Take 2 -PLASTERED! 6/1

Mine is the liberty, I think the only difference are mine are the thick ones. So I just spoke with the super. He basically said that the builder oversold and everyone is scrambling - he seemed upset that he is put in that position because all the customers are unhappy now. So I get it, they had all this business thrown at them since everyone wanted a pool in central Florida and now they can't keep up. At least I appreciated him being honest. Wish I went the owner built route like you! But I knew nothing so it may not have been wise. He did say that he is not sure when my pavers will be installed because there is a big price hike coming up and they are trying to deliver as much as possible prior to the hike. I am not sure if that is Flagstone that is trying get inventory delivered or my builder but glad we got ours before the price hike!
Cool, mine come in 2 thickness levels, mine are the thick ones. The Liberty is all 1 size I think, mine are 9x9, 9x12, and 9x15.

I was concerned about having enough material for my coping as the guys were going on mine, my installer said it's like an 8-week delay if they needed more. Thankfully we did not have an issue, but they probably only had 4-5 pieces left. We were going to do white coping, but changed to the white/pewter late in the game, glad it wasn't much of a delay. The coping actually got here first.

Hopefully your installer will come soon. I suspect it's a nightmare for them trying to juggle which jobs actually have materials and which ones dont. Hopefully since your materials are there, they will get on it pretty quick.

So when I went back out to look at my pavers I noticed it is Liberty and Old Glory. So they mix the 12x18 with 12x12 for the pattern. I recall there was a bigger one I could get in the showroom but it cost more so I got this one. Coping isn't here though. I ordered Snow White which I am not even sure what material that is, I think it might be a marble but not sure. I grabbed the order sheet since I doubt they need it and it looks like they put the order in 1/16. Crazy how long it took!

As I have come to expect, dirt is not getting moved tomorrow. The guy has a sick kid, which resonates with me as one of my twins is sick today as well, I am sure the other will have it by the weekend, can't wait!

So, instead of me working on irrigation this weekend, I'll be putting up some fans in the covered patio area hopefully (assuming kids aren't all down).

I have also ordered a very basic tiki bar and pellet grill for the inexpensive first version of my outdoor kitchen. Bar is on wheels, so it will be nice to see where we really like it located before I go crazy building something permanent. Hopefully will pick that up next weekend. Nothing fancy, just lumber construction. Hopefully will be moving some patio furniture back on the patio this weekend as well, it is so nice to have some of the mess away from the house at least.

Oh no! Hopefully your kid is ok and does not spread to the house. I was always lucky, one would get mono, strep, flu and they shared everything but my other would never catch. They even shared gum as kids, from one mouth to the other! I would quickly yell at them when I would catch them :).

I have been wanting to buy some patio stuff but need to see the pavers installed and porch area concrete poured to really know the size I am dealing with. I really want to add a nice grill to my covered porch area but they are pricey. I saw Ikea has some modular ones that look nice and are affordable but I am eyeing those really nice ones. I have been looking for patio sets that are not 2K and they are hard to find too.

Yep, we looked at Paradise Grills, weren't impressed with the quality vs the price. Then started designing my own setup which would have been significantly cheaper, but still crazy expensive. Saw these tiki bars and couldn't pass it up for the price. I am going pretty cheap on the grill for now. I have a gas grill that's only a year old, but not a nice one. I wanted to try the pellet grill for a while, so I basically think this bar setup will be good for the next couple of years, then we may decide to build the more permanent deal.

My wife wants some very specific patio chairs, we have all of our old patio furniture too. My grandmother that just passed was pretty good at sewing and made us new cushions for everything last year, so I am going to be very protective of those for a while.

Can you send me who you ordered and installed pavers from? Because of the way my side yard is and all the problems the county gave us I am going to add more pavers after everything is done to a small area about 200 sq feet. It was going to be too complicated to get the the county involved, as it is they made us have our HOA sign a waiver just for a few feet on the drainage easement (which didn't make sense since our HOA does not manage my drainage easement). But now that I heard that the price of pavers are going up I am thinking maybe I should get an order in now before price hike and just have the work done later. I need Flag Stone brand which is what you got, just hard to figure out who installs that brand in central Florida since that is also the same name for flagstone stones.

We have reached the point in our build where nothing is happening... some minor updates;

- I installed new ceiling fans on our covered patio this weekend, look great and move some air. Anyone have suggestions for the ceiling here? Previous owner put it up, but never stained or anything, I am thinking about staining and putting a polyurethane coating on it at some point.
- Hoping my tiki bar is ready for pickup this weekend.
- grading has been rescheduled for next Monday, looking forward to getting rid of the dirt mountain!
- Screen is in theory on pace to finish up next week, that requires a footer being poured, hopefully this week and a minor paver clean up. I feel like it's going to be tight.
- I had an owner-builder fail on one of my bubbler lights, ordered a 50' cable apparently and needed about 55', so, put in an order for one with a 100' cord.... if anyone needs a globrite with 50' cord, let me know. New light will be here Friday, thankful for Polytec!
- There is a pretty decent slope (for Florida) from my pool deck down to my existing grades in the rear. The pads that were done outside of my screen doors were up in the air a bit, so, I got out there last night to get some dirt around them so that a good rain doesn't erode underneath them. Will get cleaned up further with the final grade, but I wanted to protect them in the meantime.
- my grill has been delivered, I am waiting on the table-top stand (should be here Friday) to assemble everything and start building a platform for it.

The wait is brutal, but it was a huge deal getting the pavers done. It just feels so much more complete and I can start thinking about enjoying the pool soon rather than how much work is left to do on it.

Progress feel so good!! Congrats!! Personally, and I am not a professional but I love the shiplap look so the wood ceiling painted white would look nice but not sure how difficult that will be to keep clean either. And I know some love the wood look too. Maybe look on pinterest for ideas.
So interesting on what happened with the light. My builder ordered too short too. The electrician was working on it on Saturday and told me that the 100ft globrite were too short, will need the 150. So pro or owner build it happens!
Can you post a picture of your slope and what you did? They are pouring concrete today on my patio and I can already tell from my patio to the ground it is about a foot, maybe foot and a half. I recall them telling me that I will need to put dirt there, that is how you finish the slope. I was thinking dirt and rocks so less mess gets into the screened in area when it rains, or even some shrubs to create a barrier from rain. But not sure on all of that yet.
Also I love that fan. Where did you get it? I already have the Home Depot Kensgrove 72 inch one for the lanai so I may have to keep with the same. But they have a 50% chance of working when installed and my husband was not a happy camper after all the work installing that we had to take down and return and do again. So may just get another brand that matches and has a lot of air.

The fan is a fanimation from lowes. We have a different model in the house and love them. These are 56".

I didn't take any pics of the dirt, basically, the door pads were about 6-8" higher than the grade around them, so, I just threw some dirt in there to push any rain water away from those spots until the final grade is complete. The angled back side of my patio is about 2-2.5' above the old existing grade, so I am using some of the footer as a step down, then will be dropping pretty hard off of the patio to get back down to grade, hoping to avoid any issues with my City, they can be picky on grading. I had a bit of a battle with them on my last pool build to get my final inspection passed.

White wouldn't be bad on the ceiling, it would match the aluminum roof panels we're doing. I am just hesitant to paint first. If I stain, I can always paint over it later. It's going to stay as is for now (until after my daughter's party), the boss will make final decisions, but I think my gut instinct is to leave the color similar to what it is with a stain/sealer.

Red will probably not be in the rotation, maybe halloween! I know on my previous pool that the red just didn't add much light. With the darker pebble we're doing, I don't anticipate it doing much.

Picked up my tiki bar this weekend and built my grill stand and assembled my grill, haven't fired it up yet. Everything still needs paint as well.

My giant dirt mountain is being moved today!!!

Paver guy is also supposed to come and patch the hole where the footer was put in last week. Things are moving right along, I am anxious to get confirmation for the screen, it's supposed to be done by the end of the week.

OK, I feel like we're on the home stretch. Got my final electrical inspection today.

Pool cage is starting tomorrow, safety fence should go in on Monday. Cage and safety inspection on Tuesday and hopefully plastered by the end of next week. Honestly, I think that is likely to bleed into the following week. They won't officially schedule me until my safety inspection. Sounded like they could clean out the pool next week, but actually getting plastered may be a stretch.

After my final grade, I still have a ton of left over dirt. Waiting on word from excavation company to come and retrieve it. I am also trying to get a pre-inspection for my final grading if possible. My city can be a bit painful with grading, so I want to get an assessment from them before I send the dirt off in case I need any of it.

What did you end up doing with the lighting layout? How many and what was the spacing? It looks like you have good even coverage, I can't wait to see it once the pool is full.

I had to lay that out for our PB, as our designer did not really want to commit to a layout. And after I had the initial layout, which was easy, I learned a few things about pool construction that forced a change. I'm hoping it comes out ok.
