Water getting greener after opening

Ok here's the latest:
- 6am: added 0.75 gallons of MA
- 7am: added ~4lb of CYA via nylon socks @ 2 returns. Socks were empty in <1 hr.
- 10am: pH tested to ~7.2 (down from 8+). CYA tested too, but shows only a small improvement above 0 right now. I understand that takes time to show up. Then added 3 gallons of 12.5% liquid chlorine spread across the pool.

Marty thanks for the OS Job Lot recommendation - they had a lot of liquid chlorine on hand.

Next step is to brush the walls/floor of whole pool a little later this morning, and then test FC every ~2 hours to see if I need to add more to keep it at 12. How long does it take after adding chlorine to register an accurate reading on the TFT test?

With pump running, 30 minutes should be sufficient to see the FC rise. But of course, with algae, some of the FC may all ready be consumed. Brushing the pool right after adding chlorine you can test the FC much sooner.

Water looks clear now. Last night at sundown measured FC at 11 and CC at 0.5. This morning at sun up measured FC at 8 and CC at 0.5. Keep slamming for another day or am I done?

My CYA still measuring <20, but it's been only 24 hrs since I added it. I may add another lb for now unless you tell me otherwise - don't want to overshoot.

More SLaM. You lost 3 PPM and the completion criteria for that is 1 PPM or less. Keep at it. You’ve come so far and the finish line is in sight.

The CCs at .5 passes and so does the clear water. These are your 3 criteria.

It definitely can take a few days or even a week if any got sucked up by the filter. Let it sit and test in a few days. Overshooting is easy and can only be fixed by draining. No harm will come by making sure. :)

Also, Once everything is done, we will redefine what you consider ‘clear’. :)

Check this out. Just a bunch of regular Joe/Jane pools that can spank any professional brochure out there.

so here's is my FC / CC progression:
- 7pm yesterday: 11 / 0.5
- 6am today: 8 / 0.5 (added 0.75 gallons 12.5% to get back to 12)
- 1pm today: 7 / 0.5 (added 1 gallon 12.5% to get back to 12)

Have used 6 gallons so far since yesterday.

Pool looks very clear now. Can see dirt specks on deep end (which i need to vacuum)

I guess it could it be that my FC loss is primarily due to sunlight at this point (ie, if my CYA is lower than i think)? I think the only way to tell is to wait one more overnight to see if the FC loss is close to 0 - hoping tonight's the night.

thanks
