Hi All
Seeking advice
I have a render lift occurring at the bottom of the pool (around size of a dinner plate) which has taken on water - squishy when I step on it
Something to worry about / repair or just ignore
Concreate pool with Qartzon (or equivalent render finish

Background
I have drained the pool and had a pro come in to repair a rust spot on the wall - totally unrelated to this issue
while the pool is empty i noticed what i would call a wet spider web look on my pool render floor
Upon investigation it appears slightly lifted a tad bouncy and wet - like if i walk on it it squishes and makes a squish sound
There are a few other minor render issues (peels) that pool guy suggested not to worry about - stated "render is just a pretty covering and will eventually wear away . render is not water sealed and always takes on water gets eaten away by chemicals
I have the materials to crack way the render in this spot and patch it but seeking advice on weather i do it or leave it
Chip it away and patch it
leave it
other options open the floor to the experts
The main thing is if i leave it will it cause other issues / damage the pools core / shell / cause the issue to spread
Pool currently empty waiting for wall repair to cure

Hi and welcome to TFP.

"render"- by this do you mean the plaster that is put over the concrete shell of the pool? If so that is what "water proofs" the pool. It should NOT wear away or take on water!

Please take and share a picture of your pool and areas of concern. I will also tell you that a plaster pool should not sit for long without water in it as that can cause problems with the plaster.

thanks kimkats
Yes plaster Quartzon finish (has always seemed porous but this soaked and lifted is unusual )
Admittedly the more i look at it the more i see that i need to chip it away and repair it but still keen to get this forums point of view
The pool guy who fixed the wall issue today (not this one) asked me to leave it dry for 2 days to let the repair he did cure...i thought this was strange as i too was under the impression that it should be filled right away
Back to the issue at hand - sorry for the images its night time here
the totally wet image is the bigger soft spot and looked like the image with the water ring bout 2 hours ago...clearly the water under the finish is seeping through
hopefully these images are enough to make a judgement call but if not il take a few more in the morning

Man that sure does look like water is coming in through the shell (concrete) and plaster. Best to get it chipped out and see what is up under there. I would have a sub pump at the ready just in case you need it.
