Vegas OB! Just got plans back and need some feedback (pics included :) )

The Pentair automation is a thing of beauty. A warning that screen logic is a bit unpredictable, but it's still so nice to have control remotely.

What do you mean by "unpredictable "? Is there something I should be aware of and is there anything I can do in advance to make my setup more stable?

Will, go look at your pumps for me.................are there unions or some way to remove them without cutting the pipe? Every piece of equipment should have a way to remove/replace without cutting.

Those are some  winds!

Nice to see the steel there! Means there is hope of something happening!

Kim:kim:
Its light outside so I will go take a picture up close of the pumps. This means I have to get in a narrow trench and shimmy down the side of the house lol.
But I would do anything for you
Not much room on the sides of your house noted. Please make plans for future Summer kitchen, ie electrical and water lines. A 100 amp sub panel should be enough. Also put in lots of electrical outlets in all 4 corners of your yard. Just my 2 cents worth

Beachead gave me the same advice so I am doing extra electrical as well as a gas stub for a outdoor fireplace/pizza oven. When inbuilt the house I had them put a gas stub right off my patio so I'm good there.
That is a great call out for ALL new pool owners to consider for the build and at minimum put down the pvc sleeves so the wires can be run easy

As for the screen logic app, it's just finicky. If you read the reviews, on average they are bad. For example, sometimes the pool or spa turns off at random times. Mostly when I open the app remotely. But it's pretty spot on when I want to turn on the spa and heater when we are remote and want to use it later. It works really well at home on the wifi network, but for some reason remotely it's not as accurate or responsive. The automation (easy touch 4/8) is phenomenal tho.

I considered doing the pavers around the backyard since I do like them and already paid to have my patio done but I'm going with travertine (I did consider shell stone but I think travertine gives a more high end look). I'm actually going to rip up the brand new existing pavers and put travertine done so everything matches [emoji22]. They are only a few months old, but that's what happens when you have this forum and talk with others who are doing something similar ..... you find that money just keeps flying out of your pocket hahaha.
We are pretty excited about about the step up seating area and the bench we will have put in. I really considered nice furniture but for the price of some of the stuff we can have a nice bench with columns like the picture I posted on page 1 plus we will never have to replace that and I think it will add a lot of character to the back yard. Also we are going to put stacked stone on the face of the steps like singuy, I seen his steps and fell in love.
I love TFP but I think I need to put myself on a time restriction because the more I look the more I add lol

That's going to look fantastic. Travertine is lovely and def stays cool esp compared to dark pavers. The seating area sounds great. I am also in love with stack stone (have it on our fireplace inside and built a sitting wall on the back patio faced with it). We are covering our spa in stone as well as columns for the fire bowls and fire pit. I can't wait to see your design come together. It's going to be really nice.

So they started steel and they will be done on Monday. The first 2 hours the guys spent getting dirt and rocks out of the pool from the 70+mph wind store we had the other day.... they were not very happy lol
Steel guys getting dirt out of the dig

Steel going in

What are the spickets for ?

What are you calling spickets?

Will, you have another job when they get done with the steel. Take your plans outside with you and a tape measure. Measure everything. Add about 6" for the gunite and plaster. Is it long, wide, deep, etc enough?? NOW is the time to change, fix, tweak anything that needs it or you want it.

Kim:kim:

Where they pressurized the plumbing?

That would be my guess as well, and they also serve as a way to use the pump to drain the pool. very convenient to run a hose from there to a cleanout. In clark county, you are supposed to drain your pool into the sewer system, and not into the gutter or a drainage ditch. This lets them recycle the water here in the desert. It's nice so the gutters aren't always flowing with water either.

will do Kim ! They will be done tomorrow so I will jump in my hole and measure away. But seeing as I got a bigger pool than the plans I'm still a win all the way around. I. Just need to make sure the depths are correct

Where they pressurized the plumbing?
Brian I believe it's at the filter. I seen some water go in and the gauge is at a steady 25/27 psi.... is this correct

Will did you look to make sure you had unions everywhere so you can remove each piece of equipment if needed?

Yeah on the bigger pool! Make sure to check any benches, steps, etc. as well.

Kim:kim:

I did look Kim and they all have unions, sorry I forgot to mention earlier [emoji20].
I have some meetings today so when I get home I will be sure to verify the benches. I also will be there during gunite to ensure it's all correct as well

I knew you had looked but wanted to make sure.............full time job, 3 kids, a wife, pool being built=NO time for the little things once it was checked and found to be to Kim's standards! No worries!

I am glad you will be home when they shoot the shell. Suggestion-FEED them and have drinks on the ready. Make your presence known in a nice, friendly way. Make it easy for them to find you to ask or suggest anything they see or notice while they are working. They have been doing this a long time (I hope) so may have some suggestions or ideas we have not thought of.

So the last few days have been crazy busy but I have wonderful news!

The process was very smooth, the workers had a lot of job so it took a few extra days which was fine because work has been crazy and it worked out also because now gunite will be done on Saturday and I will be home ALL day! [emoji2]
Second- right after everything was finished inspector showed up and we PASSED!!! So now it's party time and gunite will be this Saturday

I do have a question for all you experts out there... in the last picture you can see the location of the last light on the right. Is it angled enough to light the shallow end of the pool? And there is 3 lights in the pool but I don't feel like any point towards the shallow end
Let me know what you all think
