Do you have a preference? Is pentair better? This pump had 8/21/2015. What does the date mean?
You will get many options on pumps. There are many of us here that like Pentair and have had excellent performance. I'll stick with Pentair.

Calimar makes a very nice VSP for $500.

I (personally) would not use Jandy because you cannot DIY.

Hayward makes nice pumps too. The Triton VS 950 is an excellent pump.

The first thing to determine is your service. Is it 115 or 230. 115 will limit your choices.

In general, a high head pump, with the largest motor is your best buy. It will move more water at a lower speed and lower electrical costs.

You may be limited by your electrical service (115/230)...let's figure that out first.

Are you going to do the work or hire it?

I would be willing to try doing it myself if it was a simple take out the old and put in the new without re plumbing. If I went the pentair pump route I could order it myself. Doing it myself makes me think I could save lots of money vs a pool company doing it.

The Pentair Superflo VST, 342002 would be the closest replacement. I cannot guarantee the .13" difference in the input height will not leak. There is no way to guarantee it without replumbing to the correct height.

The output offset and height are the same.

Be very careful where you purchase the pump...lots of iffy suppliers.

Inyo is reputable supplier:

So if I buy it and it leaks what will I need to do?

You will need to cut the input pipes below the red handled valves in this picture, rebuild the PVC inputs to the pump from the remaining stubs to the new pump level.

That is when the pump was made.

The Superflo vst is the best choice with no automation.

Check your local utility for any available rebates for installing a variable speed pump.

The pump accepts 115-230 V, 50 or 60 Hz single phase input power.

Power Connections (Figure 3) are capable of handling up to 10 AWG solid or stranded wire.

The motor controller will automatically regulate the pump speed when running on lower voltage to keep current below 13.6 A.

No wiring change is required to run the pump on 115 V nominal power, the same terminals are used as with high voltage wiring.

The drive will operate on 2-Phase Line-Line-Ground electrical systems as well as Line-Neutral-Ground systems.

The Superflo vst should be the same exact dimensions because the base and strainer pot/volute are the same.

350089 STRAINER POT.

350089 VOLUTE

350094 BASE

So to install this pump I should be able to undo the unions around the current pump, undo the electrical and put the new one in same spot without any replumbing?

Different references show different numbers.

It is the same part, so it should be the same dimensions.

It might be slightly different, so I cannot tell you it will be a perfect match.

You can measure your center height to see what your current pump is.

You can contact Pentair to see what they can tell you.

Some sellers might require "In-Store" sales only, so call and ask about delivery or sales.

If your utility has a rebate, it might require "Professional" Installation.

Model EC-342001 allows internet sales.

Products beginning with EC- are exclusive to e-commerce sales.

For warranty information please visit www.pentair.com/warranty.

Pentair, Jandy and Hayward try to force you to buy from authorized local dealers and they try to force you to get everything installed by local service companies.

They make their products unavailable for sale online.

The might have a few products that you can get online and install yourself, but the products usually have a very limited warranty like 30, 60 or 90 days instead of about 3 years.
