Hey everyone,

When I use my pool heater, the heated water comes from the spa return and trickles down into the main pool. Because of this, heating my pool takes a few hours.

I noticed that the valve for my pool return is set to "off" and has been that way since my pool was built. Would it be okay to open this valve to speed up the heating process, or is there a reason it should remain closed?

I've attached pictures of my equipment for reference. Thanks!

What is the Wireless Jandy Control System you have?

What model cleaner is connected to the cleaner pipe?

If you have a Jandy Aqualink you should enable SPILLOVER modem with Dip Switch 3, change the cam setting on the return actuator to fully close the spa in POOL mode, and schedule your SPILLOVEROVER twice a day for 20 minutes to refresh the spa water. Read Jandy Aqualink RS - Further Reading

Paramount In Floor Cleaning System.

Hey everyone so I have a Paramount In Floor cleaning system but I do notice that there's still some leftover sediment and debris at the bottom of my pool and spa despite having this in floor cleaning system. I try to brush the sediment to suspend it that way it can go through the filter but it still ends up collecting at the bottom of the pool and spa. I was thinking about getting a pool vacuum like this one that I found on Amazon:

Limited-time deal: Efurden Handheld Pool Vacuum, Rechargeable Pool Cleaner with Running Time up to 60-Minutes Ideal for Above Ground Pools, Spas and Hot Tub for Sand and Debris, Blue

I wanted to get some input the TFP community before making the purchase. My pool isn't that deep (5') and this has a telescopic pole up to 69". Thanks!

I don’t know what you expect.

At best, your 400K BTU heater will heat your 14,000 gallon pool 2.75 degrees an hour.

Sending the water to your returns instead of IFCS will not change the amount of heat getting into the pool.

Stopping the spa spillover will get a little more heat into the pool instead of the spa.

Just wanted to see if it's a quicker or more efficient process to get the pool heated from the pool returns instead having to heat it through the spa spillover. My spa is situated above the pool so I would imagine some additional heat is also lost through that process.

Your pool is heating very little from the spa spillover.

Your pool is heating from water flowing through your cleaner.

You can turn the valve and the same heated water will go through your returns instead of IFCS. Either way the heated water goes directly into the pool except for what is diverted to the spa.

Ok that makes a lot of sense thanks!
