Under Construction - Tomball, TX

I don't see any suction lines stubbed out from the skimmers. These appear to be A&A venturi skimmers. These use a venturi action to help skim. I would recommend having both of them ran with a 2" suction line, independently back to the equipment pad. You can always turn the suction off to them, if you want, but there is no way to add that functionality later. I have 2 of them as well, one with a suction line, and the other without. The one without works ok, but knowing what I know now, I would have required my PB to run suctions from both back to the pad.

It might be the angle of the picture, but t1he equipment pad looks too shallow (front to back). At the depth I think it is you will have equipment very close to the wall of the house. Once the power and control panel(s) are put on the wall there will be almost no room tonmove or work on the equipwmt. Mine is 4' and i suggest you go at least 3'6". You have the room in the yard.
It must be the picture, it's almost 5ft

Nice! Any plans for a TV in the left hand corner of the patio? I have a very similar setup and the TV being out there allows us to watch movies, sports, etc from the spa and shallow end.

I highly recommend one, especially if it increases your use of the pool/spa.

We have a full coverage area going in next week. That's where the TV is going.

Does the GUNITE need to be nearly perfect? I have a few spots that are obvious "gouges" where the gunite missed a spot.

The question is, how important is it to be right on the money?

Here are two examples

Just depends on what is supposed to go over the top of it, but most likely it will be just fine. What is going over those two places specifically?

SWEET!!! That looks great! Have you started bonding with it yet? aka watering it to help slow down the curing.

It is time for your set of links! The first set is all about what to do and ask about to get a great plaster job. The second set is all about how to care for your pool after you get the plaster.

Plaster links:

All Plaster Finishes Should Last 20 Years
Not All Color Pigments are Good for Pools How to pick a good color for plaster.

Now is also a good time to ask what test kit your PB will be providing so we can fill in any holes.

The tile guys came today. They did an amazing job on the waterline tiles.

The rest was an absolute Darn show, and they are coming back to fix everything tomorrow.

I wanted to make sure I shared both good, and bad.

I question the use of a coping block as the bottom of the mouth of the skimmer. This effectively shortens your waterline. The normal waterline should be halfway up the skimmer opening. If your skimmer opening is 8" for example, you would have 4" of water above the bottom of the skimmer. Using this block, the opening is now say only 6", but the center of the skimmer opening is still the same point, they just raised the mouth. So now you only have 2" of water before your skimmer runs dry. Hopefully I'm explaining this well enough.

Ok, so I jumped the gun on that post. These guys are incredible. Day one they put things in place, then start trimming, and rounding, and flatten, and level.... today they have been here all day, and it is starting to look great. Once they leave today I will take more pictures.
