Fair enough, I myself have been raising my CYA above 50ppm as well due to sun exposure.
Then continue with the shock process.

About half an hour with the pump running. A little brushing will help mix things, too.elainerader said:I just added chlorine. How long should I wait to test?
Nothing. It will come down on its own. You probably didn't bleach out the liner, which is about the only thing you could hurt besides your wallet.elainerader said:I meant 40 not 90!
Yep. get it above shock level. I'll bet you see some improvement now after that wallop!elainerader said:I just checked the FC level again and it's down to 28
That was fast!
Should I put in any more today per instructions (not less than twice per day) to get it back up to 31 and maintain that today. Re check in the morning and take it from there per the instructions?
Sorry to get so intense about this, I want to get it right as we are leaving for a week starting next Wednesday and I was hoping to get the pool under control by then![]()

As for vacation, how long until the trip? If you have someone that's willing to put bleach in for you, they really don't need to test. You should know by then about how much FC you need every day, and you can have that person just put in a set amount every day/other day. Then when you return you can run a full set of tests and adjust as needed.
