Hi I’m a pool newbie and not sure what my next step should be regarding my above ground pool. I havent used it in over a year and of course its dark green and full of algae. I want to drain it and start fresh but I live in Texas and right now its really hot so Im afraid I’ll ruin the liner if I do. Im wondering do I really need to start fresh or should i drain halfway and treat?

Welcome to TFP!!!

Aside from being green, how much organic material is in the pool on the bottom? (leaves, sticks, acorns, debris)

It is probably best to drain, but keep 18" of water in the pool to protect the integrity of the shell. Get all the organic material out, then refill and start the SLAM process...Link-->SLAM Process

But, in order to slam, you need a recommended test kit...Link-->Test Kits Compared

There’s probably some acorns or leaves. I think I will drain to 18 inches, refill and slam. Thanks
