Tiny crators on pool plaster?

For many years now I noticed that there are tiny little crators around the pool floor. More heavily cover around the steps but this year, I noticed that it has spread to other areas.

is my plaster beginning to fail?

I have not updated my profile in awhile.... when I first got the house I was told that it was fiberglass, but the more and more I use it, it feels more like plaster. It has a chalky feel rather than the smoother feel like you would on a fiberglass.... Is this the correct assessment?

I'll take some measurements this afternoon.

You have a grouted tile line around your pool?

That looks more like fiberglass to me. People have had the gel coat in their fiberglass pools deteriorate.

Post some pics showing the sides and steps of the pool.
