I added bleach last night to get the FC from 1 back to 3
I’m increasing my SWG from 20% to 30% today and will see where the FC is this evening.

Can my SWG keep the chlorine at the correct level or will I always be adding some bleach?

Should I add bleach to bring the FC to 4 or 5?

Do I need to bump my CYA to 70?

Can a pool that is open all year go without ever being SLAMmed?

Good job on the test results.

You need to get your FC to target level based on CYA of 70 using [FC/CYA][/FC/CYA]. Use liquid chlorine now to raise it. Round your test value for CYA of 65 to 70. You cannot measure a 65 using the vial for the test. It is a logarithmic scale.

Your cell is a T9. It will create 0.7 lbs of chlorine gas per day. That can add 0.46 ppm FC to your pool each hour it is run at 100%.

I would suggest you need to add at least 3 ppm of FC per day, or running your pump 6.5 hours per day with your SWCG set at 100%.

Yes, pools that are open year around can need to have the SLAM Process process if there is algae in the pool water.

Good job! My SWG has always needed a tiny bit of help to keep my FC at 4. I’ll put about a gallon in a week. See how it is when you bump it up-you’re not running it at a high capacity.
You can gradually increase CYA to 70. It’s always easier to gradually increase it rather than trying to decrease it.
Yes, it is totally possible to keep a pool open all year round without SLAMing it. That is the M in SLAM. Maintain. Keep in mind your SWG will not work in cold weather, so you’ll likely need to put in some bleach this winter.

For our purposes, your CYA is already 70. We round up. But certainly you're free to add a little more.

Yep. 8 years for me. Much of the year the water is too cold to get in because I'm too cheap to heat it, but it's been clear the whole time.
