I will continue slam tonight and add 88oz liquid chlorine. Will continue to brush the pools walls and floor.

CYA stabilizer still in sock… should I bring up higher than 48 or remove sock w stabilizer?
New filter coming sometime today so def changing that out when it arrives as old cartridge is on its last leg and PSI reader is 1.

Water is cloudy and light teal right now.

I would pull the sock. The higher the CYA, the more chlorine it will take to reach SLAM level. Think 30-40 CYA is optimum for SLAM. Are you using the Pool Math App? Your chlorine level is waay too low to be in the SLAM process.

Using Pool Math app with my pool specs loaded (it's 26K gal), with a current FC of 0.5ppm and a target of 18ppm, you need ~582 oz of 10% (walmart) liquid chlorine.

Remove the sock full of CYA. Raising CYA will require more liquid chlorine for the SLAM.

How did you measure a CYA of 48?
Ok sock removed. I used the TF-100 kit. It’s my first time using the kit so maybe I’m testing it wrong? Says to add liquid into the cylinder until I couldn’t see the black dot any longer

Yeah I was using the pool math. I guess I didn’t understand the target PPM. I need to go back and understand that more. Thk you!
So add 582 oz all at once right? I’ll do that tonight!

You're doing it right but interpreting it wrong. Don't try to interpolate between the lines on the CYA view tube. The test is not that precise. We always round up to the next decade, so your CYA is 50.

Set up the Pool Math App for your pool size/type/etc. The under FC tab enter current FC level and CYA value (round up to nearest 10's so 50 for you), then hit the SLAM button and it will give you your SLAM level.

You need to bring your PH up a bit first. Since your TA is OK, use aeration to raise PH.

I just got in the new filter. Ran it for about 15 mins and redid the CYA!

CYA- 40 (was midway 30-40)
pH- 7.2
TC- 1
Cl- 0.5
FC- 0.5
I will add liquid chlorine tonight and report back!

I was not on top of this every two hrs yesterday bc of work.

Will be doing that today.

Here is this mornings test result:

FC- 1ppm

CC- 2.5

Ph-7

Cl 0.5

Br 1

CH 125

TA 100

CYA 40

Just added sodium bicarbonate to raise the pH a little more.

Added 2 gallons of chlorine. My FC isnt where it needs to be yet.

The cloudiness is still present but becoming less.

I did the OCLT test.

Last night after I added 3 gallons of LC

9:10pm… FC 9

CC 1.5

TC 10.5
CYA 40
Results this morning-
8/10

FC 9.5
CC 0.5
TC 10
CYA 40

I gained FC. But my water is still foamy and light teal. 😅

What am I not doing right?

Do I just focus keep being up the FC?

16 is the aim.

Test your FC only when following the SLAM process.

You did not need to add the bicarb. The TA was high already.

Yes, I am following the SLAM process. My pool was green swamp prior to all this.
Is the foam from the Sodium Bicarbonate I added other day?
I used quick clean feature in my pump and the foam is dissipating

So should I continue to focus on raising FC to 16?
