I often read about a smartplug used to turn the SWG on and off along with the pump. I'm currently using a mechanical clock switch and would prefer something more reliable. Where can I find this "smartplug"????

Thanks!

Ed

Ed,

I don't think a smartplug is going to help.

Your IntelliFlo should be getting constant AC power and is being turned on and off via the pump's control panel. There is nothing in the pump that can tell the smartplug that the pump is running.

Thanks,

Jim R.

I have an outlet that feeds off the same power side of the box as my pump. Then use this to control my run times,

I set my pump from 8sm to 10pm this time of year and the swg to run from 9am until 9pm.

Risk is if the pump is shut off and the flow sensor fails

What voltage is your SWG currently connected to? If it's 120 volt, you can use a household plug or switch installed in a weatherproof box.

If 240 volt, you can use a WiFi relay/switch. Check out the link below. You could probably install the Sonoff switch in your existing electrical box.

The smart plugs that people are referring to are just wifi controlled plug in 110v outlets that you then plug the device you wish to control into, it can be configured to turn on & off on a schedule or multiple schedules etc. Basically a digital timer with wifi control & more configurable options. Most cost around $10 online or at Walmart, lowes, Home Depot etc. There are many brands of them & just as many apps to control them.
They can be a little more reliable than a mechanical timer in the sense that they don’t lose time /schedule when the power goes off or time changes because they’re controlled through an app on your phone. A smart plug however, will not know whether your pump is running or not.
I have many of them to run my appliances/lights on schedules, like my dolphin robot & coffee percolator.
I can use the smartlife app or alexa to turn them off/on on demand or change their schedules.

Whichever timer you use (digital, mechanical, or wifi) be sure you have the swg set to come on at least 15-30 minutes after the pump comes on & to go off at least 15-30 minutes before the pump turns off.

Ed,

I am assuming you want something that senses when the IntelliFlo is running and which will then turn on the salt cell... Is that correct???

Thanks,

Jim R.
Yes, but I saw your earlier comment and think the intelloflo won't work with a smartplug. Currently I'm using an intermatic mechanical timer and I grew to dislike those after using them for years.

Thanks. I have a real smart plug on my carpentry equipment that turns on the vacuum system anytime I start one of my tools.

What model smartplug do you have on your carpentry equipment?

Is your carpentry equipment 120V or 240V?
