I have a IC40 and it has been running well the past week & half. Now I went to test my water and my FC is way down so I was going to do the test to see how much chlorine I needed to add. I decided to go take a look at my SWG and noticed my cell light flashing. I have never seen this one before. I did some research and it says to try cleaning the cell with water and muratic acid. Well I don’t have the cap to plug the end so I can’t really do that. Looks pretty clean from when I opened it up and looked. I need to run to my pool store to see if they have a cap or run to my local hardware store and see if I can get one of those rubber stoppers. Anyway if after i try to clean it and it still does this does this mean cell is dead and I need a new one? I’m at 5 yrs on this one. When I run the diagnostics it says it is only 80% used.IMG_2656.jpeg

So if my cell is dead I am curious to know what people’s thoughts are on replacement vs just adding liquid chlorine going forward. You can buy a lot of chlorine for the cost of what a SWG is.

@smicale See the note on the spreadsheet analysis in the link @ajw22 gave you on FC production cost:
(Note: this is in FC equivalent, or price per FC. The "Cell days" are the number of days the cell would last if you run it at 100%. No generator is run at 100%. The number of days the cell would run if you ran at 20% would be 5x longer or 2085 days/5.7 years. "Cell days" is not a prediction of the life of the cell, it is necessary to calculate the cost of the FC production.)

So should I stick with the Pentair Intellichlor IC40 or try an off brand? $1400 is what I am seeing online for one. I don’t know if the off brands work with the IntelliCenter and the Pentair iOS app.

Clone cells cannot be controlled by Pentair automation.
