SwampClean 2015 - opening the pool!

Bad storm blew through last night and blew a ton of leaves in the pool. that resulted in FC loss and now my CC is back to 0.5 after being ZERO last night. But...the pool still looks better! forward with the SLAM! a minor setback...but i'm still almost done (I believe).

;-)

That's awesome! CC of .5 or less is good. Keep in mind that, if your testing at the 10ml mark, you can only test in .5ppm incremements, so what you think is a .5 reading could actually be a little less.

Get those leaves outta there, and keep going. You'll be swimming in no time!

persistence is paying off! Today I get home this evening walk over to the pool look down and guess what I see? I see the liner! Not clearly, but definitely! It's the first time I've seen my liner since last summer. Lol I tried to take a picture but the glare on the pool is just too bad I never could get a good shot. About to get in and do some scrubbing and put my bag in there to crawl around. looking better all the time. :)

I bet you forgot what your liner looked like LOL

Kim

I DID!!! I was very worried it would be bleached out...but it wasn't! Some of the top of the liner around the fill line has some sun bleaching from over expossure...but the floor of my liner seems to be un-faded!

I just got out of the pool. I got in after my last post and spend ALMOST 3 hours in it. It was nice and warm. Once i got in and started pushing the brush around, a cloud of white from the floor caused the pool to go cloudy again...but this time the cloudy seemed to stay just above the floor...while the top stayed nice and blue.

So I went ahead and hooked up my Hayward AquaBug and I am just going to let him run around the pool all night and see what we look like tomorrow!

I just over shot the bleach a bit because it was the last time I will be checking it until about 6am in the morning. FC is sitting at 20 and the CC is....ZERO!!! ;-)

NOW...I am about to order the HASA Liquidator to help me with keeping up with the bleach once I have this completed! I know some people love it, some people hate it...I will likely move to the stenner pump next summer or the one after that....but for now, this is an affordable option to get started with helping me stay on top of maintaining steady FC!

I am so thankful to be winding this process down! I have spent well over 250.00 in bleach! The cost to refill would have been about 130.00~! ;-)

If you mess up Floc with a cartridge filter. You may need new cartridges. Dead algae sinks to the bottom on its own.

One thing i haven't read is how often you are vacuuming. Regardless if you can see the bottom, vacuum to waste (if you can) and bring the water level back up with a hose.

Hey Chris, I have up to this point avoided FLOC so I do not think I will end up using it. As for vacuuming to waist...I have no way to do that. :)

Ok, I know the forum is having some issues they are trying to resolve...but something weird happening. From my phone, some posts are not showing. and when I posted from my phone this morning...that post is showing on my phone...but not from the computer!?!? lol

Anyway...this morning I passed 2 steps! I lost only 1ppm...AND I had ZERO CC! Obviously after stirring things up lasnt night, the pool is not clear today and I again can not see the bottom but it is just a matter of time now. I am hoping I will be completely done by the weekend! ;-) I am ready to let the FC levels drift back down. (so is my bank account! LOL)

Proof that the process works.

Just think next year you're expenses will not be as much with proper pool maintenance [emoji106]

Finish the race strong

Today....mantained shock for the MOST part...fell to 14.5 about between 2 and 5 pm (not sure when or how long but it was in that window of time) I quickly brought it back up to 18. You can again see the bottom today (still not completely clear). when I did the CC test...there was a VERY VERY faint hint of pink after the 5th drop...but it disappeared with 1 drop of the clearing solution so my CC was .5 and I would argue that it wasn't even really that. I bet half of that drop would have cleared it! ;-)

I need to get a good picture...but every one I took yesterday (and today) have horrible sun glare so there isn't really anything you could tell from it.

Thanks,
Steve

THIS, my friends....is my liner! ;-)

Ok, so the important stuff....we can see the liner! I failed to do my over night loss test but I am almost positive im in range. I do not even have to strain my eyes to see the bottom of the liner now! There is still a very slight cloud to the pool and I can see tiny little particles floating about. If you look at the image you can see these places on the bottom where there appears to be some white stuff just laying on the bottom. I assume this is the stuff that I have been kicking up every time I scrub that makes the pool cloudy again. there isn't a ton of it...but there is definitely some down there. I think either this evening or tomorrow im going to get in and vacuum it again. but this is most certainly measurable progress!

I have some HTH Super concentrated clarifier that I am considering using sparingly...but I have avoided it up to this point so im not sure if I will. Anyway...its about over!!! ZERO CC and have stayed (for the most part) above shock. I have lost some CYA over the last week...so I will likely add a bit more tonight. I am sitting at about 25-ish. I like to try and be about 35/40

Anyway, thoughts...comments?

Thanks,
Steve ;-)
