Still happening...plaster completed!

The water won't hurt unless it bothers you. I had a foot and a half in mine after rain. I used a fountain pump but most people don't bother. You can water it with a spray nozzle or let it run down over the beam like you did. The important part is to keep it hydrated.

Are you talking about the holes around the two pipe? The pipes will be cut at plaster and the bottom of the drain cover will be placed on the pipe with plaster under it creating a seal. The covers bottom will be were the hole is.

Samples of the gunite were also taken for city inspection Is this common? Do they have to approve the gunite before moving forward?

Found what looks like a crack while watering. Is this due to cracking or the way the gunite was shot? Should I be concerned? Thank you.

The inspection is a wonderful thing but not done in many areas and that is sad as it is to make sure the correct methods and materials were used. Be happy you are getting that done!

Small cracks are VERY common and not big deal. Now if the crack is big enough to put a nickel in then there might be a problem. No worries with yours!

Yes very! Maybe I should put a couple of trash cans out so they get the idea. But the drinking on the job? That’s just unacceptable.

Yes, you are so right! I think the plumbers and fence workers were the only ones that used the cans.

So this started to appear at the bottom of the steps...Not sure what it is and if it’s normal? Efflorescence maybe?

Do not know what it is exactly, but would say it is normal since I have been around a few gunite shells and they all had similar. I would think that since the surface is left rough, there is little cavities where stuff washes out when hydrating the pool.

Who is responsible for prepping the gunite for plaster? I have some concrete that are sticking out/rough.

The plaster folks will scrap and wash down the shell the morning of plaster. Do you have a pic of your concern? The shell should be rough. What is sticking out?

Here are some pics of concrete that are sticking out, wire still attached to the pipe and small rust spots maybe?

That all looks normal. They will probably scrape it to knock any small loose pieces off before they wash it. The rough surface will give the plaster something to grab onto. The pipe with gunite will be cut flush with the plaster.

Did not see your comment. I cant really see the wire in the pic but the pipe itself will be cut. If the wire is in the gunite, not sure if it getting cut flush would bleed through the plaster. I have seen small wire ties exposed form lights niches being tied in, but really do not know if that would cause a problem with the plaster. The brown spots look like dirt to me.

Thanks! As for the brown spots, it’s pretty stuck there with no luck spraying it off.

It could have gotten into the wet gunite and stained it.

Is the rebar supposed to be exposed on top of the wall? Also, what are these wires sticking out and it’s purpose? Is it OK to get them wet when spraying? Thanks!

The rebar should be buried in the shotcrete sigh................Make sure to put any and all questions, concerns, talks about this problem in an email to keep it in writing if they don't want to fix it like it should be!

PB said it’s supposed to be exposed and not to worry . A raised wall and 3 waterfall sheers are supposed to be in that area.

Also, what is a reasonable priced robot do you recommend for a 15x22 sized pool? Thanks!
